Someone was saying about loosing weight while pregnant. This page says it is usual to loose 1-2kg just before going into labour. http://www.birth.com.au/The-womans-health-during-early-pregnancy/Weight-gain-during-pregnancy.aspx

Not sure why I'm still up at this time but anyway. Kind of specific question which maybe GISI can answer as I think your OH is a PC as well (?) My OH is currently training to be a PC (will start in December) then he's been told he will work shifts of 6 on, 4 off. This is going to be very unhelpful when it comes to childcare as he will always have different days of the week off. Does anyone know if the police can be flexible about this so that they always have one day a week that is the same week day?

Very early morning wishes to ladies and bumps - I'm offensively wide awake this morning and yet exhausted. I'm using the time profitably to collect the item codes of the things I want from Next, so hopefully it won't be too much of a nightmare to organise getting the stuff from the site into my basket and from there into the eager mitts of the courier.
If anyone else is awake, a friend of mine's mum is up on the plinth at Trafalgar Square for the next hour.

Hi Jenny! I am having the exact same dramas at the moment! I have no idea what we will do about childcare if/ when I go back to work. To be honest, I don't know of anyone who has been able to modify there hours like that, as they need to be working when the rest of their shift are, and in this case they wouldn't!
At the moment my hubby is winding me up by telling me all his court dates around my EDD- apparently your wife being in labour is not a good enough reason to not go and give evidence/ get a trial moved! That would not be funny....:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Jenny, GISI, what do other wives of policemen do? It might be worth getting your partners to ask around at work, there could be flexible childminding services that you just wouldn't know about if you didn't hunt them out, you know?Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Just came on quickly to say Good Luck to Tinkerbell if she's checking the thread before she heads off to hospital this morning. I hope she's holding her baby by tonight (or better that the show last night meant she went into labour spontaneously and is already holding it). Please come back and tell us how FIL got on as well as about baby.
And also huge thanks to everyone who helped me last night. From the hour of posting, you can probably work out that it was another not great night for sleeping, but the online chat did help me get some things straight in my head. You are fab - wish i knew some of you in real life too.0 -
Hey, I'm just looking at the Next sale preview and they have a buggy at £45 - quickshop code is 391-504-X42. I don't know if anyone's looking but it looks nice.
I've been up for four hours, so has Husband, and lots of organising is going on amid plenty of yawning and drinking of tea. After yesterday's 30-degree-plus weather, it's pouring with rain and decently cool. I hope everyone else is getting such comfortable weather for the pregnant
Any news of Tink? Good luck, if you're checking in before you leave. I hope everything works out as well as it can for you and your FIL.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Morning all
Well I'm still here and no more signs yet - little devil just wants it it's own way and obviously has no way of playing to anyone elses timescales
Thanks again for all of your support last night it was lovely. Hopefully we'll find out if they can bring things forward this morning but I'll log on later and let you all know.
In the meantime I'm asking for HUGE labour vibes as it was spooky what happend last night when you all put your thoughts together :rotfl:You laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same0 -
GIGI, Jenny, my OH works rigid shifts as well 12hr 4 on 6 off and its a great thing for us as it means as i'll only be working 3 days a week he should be able to have the baby those 3 days. My work will be flexible to a degree on which days I will work and these will prob vary every week. On the odd occasion there is an overlap MIL is keen to step in.
I'm guessing that in most cases with 2 working parents most of the flexibility and compromise in working hrs would come from the workplace of the mother (rightly or wrongly) IYSWIM rather than expecting a service like the police to be flexible to every family.
We're working on the theory that the highest earner does the hrs required and the other fits in around. Pre ML that was me, when I go back part time that will be him.
Don't think this will be helpful to anyone, just in a sharing mood lol0 -
