Tia, Amber is gorgeous! Sure she will be home soon too
Thanks to everyone for their replies on HB - I will check out the birth stories thread too (thanks Glam, I hadn't even though of that )
Just had my dinner, sausage, new potatoes and a mountain of veg: leeks, butternut squash, cabbage, broccoli and some lovely onion gravy. Figured baby needed a double helping of veg today after all the carp the last few days!0 -

Where does the time go? :think:0 -
sorry I disappeared - my mum rang and I've spent an hour on the phone!
20mins - sisters wedding and mum's 4 week holiday in Spain
20mins - OH's job situation
20mins - how I shouldn't have started Insulin and that I shouldn't be induced at 38 weeks but should defy the hospital and go to 40 weeks despite the risks
Oh and now that BIL has changed the days he's coming - I know have BIL staying when my mum and step-dad are coming up! Bang goes getting anything done next week and means I'll be spending Saturday AND Sunday trying to sort house out.
On a brighter note OH has said he'll come to Primark with me either tomorrow or Friday night as it's open til late and means I don't have to worry next week with people coming over. :jA very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Glam maybe mention to your mum that because my sugar levels were so high in pregnancy (I should have been on insulin I have since been told) my little girl is still in special care.0

She wouldn't listen! She's been diabetic on insulin since she was 13 and thinks she knows it all. She has told me to take her advice over the hospital but I have told her I will do what the hospital tell me to but I am pretty clued up on stuff so won't let them walk all over me. Today, they said 'Right, so you are having a section' Um, no I'm not.
I thought it was strange you had to test before food - I completely forgot to take my insulin and test my sugars this morning. I must must be good for the next 4 weeks.
Baby on the roll again and it's hurting me!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Tia - glad your home, and hope Amber joins you soon. Beautiful name for a beautiful little girl.
On the smoked salmon debate earlier today, UK advice is that its ok in pregnancy. http://www.eatwell.gov.uk/asksam/agesandstages/pregnancy/#A219904
some countries say its a listeria risk but the UK takes the view that the risk is so low compared with say soft cheeses, that its fine.
Looks like OH does not have swine flu (yet at least!) as his temperature has stayed normal, though he does have a bad cold, and one of his colleagues has just been diagnosed with it. I'm afraid we had words on Monday when he phoned me from work at around 3pm to say he thought he might have it, and by 8pm was still at work having not checked his temp or phoned the hotline for an assessment.
I think I've been nesting over the last couple of days. Have suddenly decided that I need to make the curtains for our bedroom as quickly as possible (bought the fabric 2 years ago when we moved in and its been sitting in the corner of my bedroom ever since!). We have 3 large windows in our bedroom, each with a 9 foot drop, so its quite a big job. Have now cut out all the fabric though and one set has been made (and lined) but not yet hung, as need OH to put up the curtain poles. Hope to finish the other two sets by the weekend, and get them all up.
The situation with DD rumbles on, and we've had to instruct solicitors to make sure she isn't put in an unsafe position. Still all quite stressful, but the solicitor dealing with it is a former colleague of mine, so I feel she is in safe hands if he's dealing with it. Frustrating not to be able to do it all myself but if things end up in court it may well be around the time baby is due, and its probably better to have someone more objective about things doing it anyway.0 -
nicki - glad ur OH wasn't diagnosed with Swine Flu. Even though his colleague has been diagnosed doesn't mean he's actually got it.
I wondered where you were earlier on today - hope things with DD get better soon xxA very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Hello all,
I really meant to get back and post the other day but kinda fell asleepLots of congratulations to all the new babies and mums, welcome to all the newbies and huge amounts of hugs to everyone who would like one!
I just don't know where the time is going these days! 34 weeks yesterday - meep - so not that long to go really. I've brought my maternity leave forward a little, so will be finishing at the end of next week. I'm off on friday, which means only 6 working days left which is great.
Have definately been feeling more tired lately. I don't know if I've been having BH contractions yet, as bump isn't going hard or anything, but I've been getting cramps on and off. Bottom of bump has been sore the last few days, with pains down the front of my legs - when had my checkup today bubs isn't engaged but is at 'brim' so I guess this is why. Everything else seems to be going well so far
First anti-natal class was today, and was interesting. Seemed liked a nice group of girls in the class: most around same stage as me, a couple before and after. We have 4 classes altogether: 3 daytimes, and one evening for the dads to come (labour and delivery talk!). We didn't have to book in on the course - our midwives run it at the practice, and they book us on and then let us know when to turn upI've a number to call the maternity hospital to book a tour which will be on a weekend apparantly. Oh yes, and the midwife wasn't recommending starting RLT until 37 weeks? I thought that was a bit late really...
I've got most of my bag packed - I still need to get a going home outfit sorted for me. I got some nice enough nighties from peacocks for only £4 each so was happy with thatAlso need to sort out a nursing bra so anyone any ideas for the best place to go and get fitted? Hubby has set up the crib so we're almost ready to go - need to get some more sheets and blankets. Also got my breastpump - medela freestyle - so looking forward to seeing how that goes.

Nicki, I'm only home for the night, they have said she may get to the ward tomorrow night. I just hit my tearful day and needed a break.
Hope your DD is safe, and it is sorted out soon, sounds like a nightmare for you all. Try and find a wee 5mins to relax at some point.0
