My god I am cream crackered!!! Had a hard 4 hours at work- really busy, lots of rushing around, really hot and lots of comments about my size :mad::mad: then left there and went straight to my mates house to pick ds up and she took one look at me and put the kettle on and made me a cheese sarnie, bless her! The kids were happily playing and we got chatting so ended up staying there untill 4! Ive just got in but Ive got to go out again in 20 mins to pick OH up from work then were going straight off to the cinema then for my 4d scan after that!! Im sooo knackered though..hope baby isn't aswell or he might end up being fast asleep during the scan! Lazy day planned for tommorow though so thats good.

grr - damn u for being ready before me!
harley - make me feel better, have u packed urs yet?

My plan is to go to Peacocks this weekend or next week, get my nighties and sensible PJ's, dressing gown and then get my mat knickers and breast pads from ASDA. Then go somewhere to get a nice little suitcase for my stuff.

I plan to have a labour bag, post delivery bag (which will stay in car and can then be swapped with labour bag) and baby bag.

Take them all in with you - I did, and it was a good job I did. I was moved to the labour ward at 3am so hubby wouldn't have been able to go back to the car for my bag cos they wouldn't of let him back in, but I was still able to send him home with stuff I wouldn't need ;)

spag bol it will be. just waiting on them to finish in the kitchen.

CSH- glad i;m not being daft in packing for 3 days.
do i need to put a little outfit for baby in labour bag then if i do a seperate one. (DH likes thats idea)

Hubby dressed Liam in the delivery suite whilst I was being stitched up- so I would say yes, doesn't matter if you don't use it.

well i've split my case into 2.
    labour and post labour.
little outfit for baby and pj's for me.
havent packed hat or cardi for baby as any mat ward i've been to has been soooo hot
i have some in main case though just in case.

thought of carrier bag but i too thought it would be a miracel if DH (if he's still there) manged to had it over

Jillie - you will need a hat to bring baby home in - and i was asked for a cardi as soon as soon as we got to the ward as Liam was cold. This is despite the hosp being hotter than the sun, lol

ETA: scrap that - just noticed you said you have some in your main bag. The nurses did put a hat on bubs as soon as he was born, but it wasn't mine
  • Afternoon all. Very long day at work today, but it's all good. Thank you so much for the advice last night. It definitely made me more confident in speaking up to my boss today. She has basically told me to start my handover as soon as possible (so that'll be tomorrow) and given me the plan of what will happen when I'm off. It's not ideal, but at least I now know what will happen when I'm off which is a big relief. I'm also allowed to have an extra person in, meaning I can be a bit more office based. I can also let her know at any point if I want to start ML early, which I have warned her I may very well do.

I love all the talk of hospital bags. I'm slowly buying breast feeding suitable nighties and tops for afterwards. Primark have both nighties and pyjama tops which un-button and only cost £2-4 each so might be worth a look.

SJ- sorry they couldn't help with your gums. Hope they feel better soon. Thanks for your pm too!

No news of Suzy today? Fingers crossed it's all happening for her.

thanks NMS for that info. Just need to find a case for it all now!!!

OH spent all day sorting the front bedroom out for BIL, I've just hoovered the landing and stairs and now BIL not coming to Sunday so gonna leave it and do the rest on Saturday! Am pooped from just hoovering!

OH peed off that he'll have to split himself between me and BIL and I'm annoyed cos BIL eats loads and I'm supposed to be budgeting!

    :mad::mad::mad:
Looks like I've got BIL here for my first week of ML and OH reckons he's not going to Parentcraft now but I will drag him there kicking and screaming! It's more for him than me anyway!
Also my mum was going to stay one night next week and if BIL is here it's a bit of a pain as we've taken single bed down. He'll be on the mattress on the floor in the nursery.

Got a surprise for tea as OH not sure exactly what he took out the freezer!

Just arranged to meet the girls I used to work with next week for lunch so that will be cool!

GISI - glad it all went well. I'm doing my main handover tomorrow, then just need to finish office tidy up and then Friday should be quite chilled (I hope)

Oh, primark! Forgot about Primark for nighties and Pj's!

Now do I go to Wigan one which is normal size or do I brave the massive one in Liverpool?

Liverpool I think as i'll have lots of time - I just hate paying out loads for parking and OH hates it. Wish my American friend was still here to go with me - could brave it on my own when BIL is here

Am a bit gutted as not many people in Friday and we have a lunch organised but hey, can't be helped!

forgot to mention earlier I asked about the birth and stuff

I will be hooked up to an Insulin drip and blood sugars will be constantly monitored throughout the labour. I may also need the hormone drip when I'm induced so although I can bounce on swiss ball, I will probably have to spend most of my time in bed :(

I will be in for minimum of 24hrs where mine and baby's sugars will be checked for that time and if OK I can go home if not we will have to stay in like Tia & Amber have.

I thought I was just having a contraction cos bump went rock hard and really painful - looked down and it's bubs on the move. OMG it hurts so bad - my bump is mega lopsided. Move baby move!!!!

  • That sucks about all the monitoring Glam. Fingers crossed your sugars behave as much as possible.

I'm not sure what actualy bag I'll use as a hospital bag. Maybe a little case on wheels or maybe a sports holdall type thing. I'm hoping to fit most of bub's stuff in the changing bag as it is pretty spacious.

I feel so much more relaxed tonight. Hopefully I will actually get some sleep as I only got four hours last night which is not enough. It was just so hot, and my bump was so uncomfortable. Not sure if it was mostly bloating or baby in an awkward position.

Hope baby shifts for you Glam!

Helen- will you post some pics when you get back from scan? x
