three2be - we're definitely going to use cloth nappies and I know a few other ladies (though I think they've given birth now!) also expressed an interesttop 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

Come on Tigster - spill. Tell us all your news. Did your scan go ok then?
Three - quite a few ladies on here have gone for reusable nappies. Think they found The Nappy Lady to be useful for recommendations. I considered it and found it the most useful thing about The Baby Show when it was at the SECC. You got demonstrations on all the different brands. Don't know if there is one later in the year, but might be useful. Whereabouts in Scotland are you?
I am really surprised that we have no doublers on the pram list! I expected lots of Silver Cross and Quinny Buzz's! Hope people aren't not posting if theirs is already there as it would be interesting to see what is more popular.
Off for quick shower and to shave my legs coz midwife will check for swelling!! x0 -
Just been looking through the net at all the baby stuff. I swear everything has got really expensive or have i just got tight with money as i've aged?
Things are much dearer!! That was my 1st thought too when I started buying! And you can hardly get anything in gender neutral these days too. When I had DD in 1996 there were no gender scans therefore no shops sold only blue or pink newborn stuff and everything was neutral colours. (Not really sure why I'm complained about that cos I know I'm having a boy, but its the principle :rotfl:)**HUGE LABOUR VIBES FOR SUZY**0 -

I'm torn between thinking it's an outrage there aren't more neutral clothes etc available because I don't want to find out until s/he makes an apperance and thinking that maybe it's for the best as I won't end up buying too much!! (Hopefully anyway )0

I'm having a girl but was hoping for a boy but kept to greens, yellow, oranges and neutral colours when buying before we knew which are fine for a boy or girl, stripes, spots etc look fab on babies. I've gone for quite bright coloured baby grows and any that are obviously boyish she will wear at night. But I dont like the stigma blue/pinkReceived £2,626.00 in PPI -2013:j

OK - I have just shut my office door and god help anyone that tries to come in!
I always have my door open for people to come to me but all they want to do is chat about this being my last week and am I ready?!
No, I'm bl00dy not ready cos I can't leave til I've finished all this work on my desk and people keep bothering me!
They probably think I'm skiving but I couldn't give a t0ss!!!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Well ........ About six weeks ago, after an "interesting" scan as part of the MAPs research study (Making Pregnancy Safer), it was noted that Beanie was a little on the small side - so this, combined with my advancing age (!) got me swapped from community midwife care into consultant care in the hospital as part of a new Placenta Clinic they've set up here. I'm having regular growth & placenta scans - they check not only the baby's size, but also the amount of amniotic fluid, the condition of the placenta, and the bloodflow to/from the placenta (which is apparently where my problem lies). Beanie is still measuring small all over, but no other health problems have been observed - at the last scan (which was 27wks) he's measuring 25wks. The scans are now becoming more frequent, every fortnight from now on, and they'll probably go to weekly as my due date approaches - mainly so they can check the condition of the placenta, rather than the baby! And they may induce me or even give me a c/s if the placenta shows signs of giving up early.
Not that this is worrying us, we refuse to get stressed. It was only picked up at a research scan - both the 12wk & 20wk scans were normal. And we are simply helping to maintain average statistics - for every mum out there whose baby is measuring ahead of schedule, somebody has to measure behind scheduleBut we do get a free scan photo at every session, and Marley really enjoys seeing the baby on the monitor, such a proud daddy-to-be.
The other news is .... Did anyone see the request in various baby bulletins from Renegade Pictures for pregnant women to be interviewed for a documentary? They're making a show for Beeb3 about how pregnancy affects women of different ages. I got in touch, and we've had an afternoon's filming so far! They were hoping to film last week's scan, but got called away as another lady went into labour; they're trying to set up another (extra) scan for this week so that they can come film my belly & Beanie, and hear from the Consultant Docs about "older" mums. The programme is due for transmission late 2009 or early 2010.
We're just about kitted out for Beanie now, the nursery (jungle animal theme) is looking fantastic. I'm about prepared, working on the hospital bags now. I want to be ready in case Beanie decides to make an early entrance into the world, although I have yet to give in to the news about his size and buy "tiny baby" size clothes - the longer he stays inside me, the better all round.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

I am not finding out what I am having, and I have bought plenty of sleepsuits etc in white/neutral. There isn't much in the way of interesting outfits, but I figure that they will probably just wear sleepsuits/bodysuits etc mostly for the first few days anyway. Then I can go mad on a particular colour afterwards!
Although I have found it terribly frustrating when there have been loads of great sales on and I feel I am missing out on bargains!
Three - I am in Lanarkshire, just outside Glasgow.0 -
I have said actually that it'll be nice for us to have plenty of clothes that aren't blue or pink from people who buy before they know the gender, as I don't want the baby permanently in only one colour!0
