Hi all - i'm new to all this but something today really narked me so wanted to get it off my chest!! We are TTC I am 7 days late today (fingers crossed!) when i popped into my local tesco on Weds a pregnancy test was £1.59. I was trying not to be too keen so didnt pick one up. Today however I thought i;d get one for the morning and guess what!! They are BuyoneGetOne Free (wow you may say!) but the price has gone upto £3.19!!!!!!!! so all they have done is doubled the price! How do they get away with that?? Ahhh thats better - i'll buy one in morn anyway and will let you know!! xxxxx ps congrats to all new mums and expectants! I have 3yr old and he's fabulous!! xxxx0

Thanks NMS
Yes, 'planning' a homebirth but always keeping an open mind! Next door were also slagging the aftercare and midwifes/HV that visit afterwards so good to hear it's not as bad as they make out.
I know of lots that were born there (me included!) but its just very nice to hear of a recent experience. Thank you xxx
Hugs to all, vibes to those that want them, I'm off too now.
Night xxxMy baby girl :kisses3: September 09 :heartsmil0 -
Fitzio, women are programmed to talk about the birth more if it hasn't went 'right'. So you don't hear many straight forward birth stories, but most of them are straight forward.
Mine with DS1 was fine, vontouse delivery (suction cup) and he was resuscitated afterwards, but it was not scary or anything. Mainly because I slept inbetween contractions and only woke to push, but it was handled very well by the doctor and midwife. And I got skin to skin with him as soon as he was alert (15 mins later). Little baby alien with huge eyes plonked on your chest qand staring up at you is something you will always cherish! He then went and found a nipple :rotfl:Minor labia tearing, up and walking about no problems the next day (just in time to stare at the tv in shock as the twin towers fell right enough).0 -
Good luck with your test missslc. I am sure that's illegal though - they have to offer it at the genuine offer price for x amount of time e.g. they could put it up to £3.19 for a few months and then make it BOGOF. Don't know the law though, but I am sure that sounds underhand.
Going to go and have a warm bath now and see if it helps my back as I can't get comfy on the sofa. Hoping I don't have a cold coming on. I have felt it much colder here tonight than it has been recently.
Got caught in the rain earlier and I was trying to run in my flip flops (only things that fit me when my feel have swollen) and I stepped in a puddle and right out of my flip flop and took another 2 steps before I realised I only had 1 shoe on. Mortified!! Had to go back an put on wet flip flop.
Thanks everyone for your reassurances! I just hope it goes ok and if it doesn't, it doesn't. No point in going in thinking negatively.
Tia - I take it Glam may be getting induced on your DS's birthday then!? It's a memorable date.0 -
No, he was born on the 10th at 9.33pm. The next day I got up, showered and went down to SCBU (he had been taken down at 1am). When I got back to the ward the nurses were discussing what I thought was the new spiderman film, a plane flying into the one of the twin towers. So inbetween visits to SCBU, I was glued to the tv, along with everyone else that day. Made me hug my baby close I tell you. (in the first spiderman film a helicopter was tarpped in a huge web between the towers and then those scenes later removed)0

FOR THOSE OF YOU THINKING OF HAVING HOME WATER BIRTHS
Just went back to one of the old threads from February and read thru a whole 50 pages to find this picture!!
If you read the few pages before and after it will give you some info on stuff you might want to think about getting for your HB including towels, fans and even sieves (for poo sharks :rotfl:)

7am on a Saturday - I got up because I was having contractions. They've stopped.
This baby and I will need to have another little talk, I think.
Good morning to everyone else, labour vibes, sticky vibes, where-the-crap-are-you-come-update-us vibes, to be distributed as necessary.
Husband is stumbling around looking for the Dyson manual. Apparently he dreamed it was lost and it woke him. I do love this strange weird man.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
