Catching up after my snooze:
Tia, are you doing as you're told? Be careful, else I'll worry about you
NMS, how's Liam doing? How are you?
Welcome sammy
EA and jha, sorry you're feeling bad
Hypno, hopefully the next senior person will give you a more sensible response. Have you thought of Watchdog as well? They seem to get stuff done.
Glam - I'm doing the best I can!!!
I do worry when people don't post for a few days. And when people are about to give birth I start noticing if it's been more than a few hours and I start wondering if they're off somewhere giving birth and hoping it's going well. And they're always in the supermarket or crouching over pineapples or something and not in labour at all.
I forgot to post a letter today. Must do that tomorrow, but now I think some tea, some toast and some more sleeping.
Oh, and we can't upload the video because the uploading software is on the broken desktop. But one day you will all be able to see my tea mug dancing on my belly where my miscreant infant has attempted to dislodge it.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

I'm trying hard not to do anything but it's hard when the house is a tip. DH came home and said I'd be in hospital again for the weekend, I told him to shut it, it's the weekend already so nah!
He's had to go back out again though!
I'm off for a bath so I get some relief from pain, it's just everywhere now, hips, bump, back, butt, legs mleh. And my feet are like huge too.
Won some pretty clothes on eBay for the still as yet un-named baby.0 -
Hi all
Can I butt in on the water birth convo? I'm hoping to homebirth in one and think I have decided on the Aqua Born one http://www.ecobirthpools.co.uk/birthpools.asp
Xmas - which have you got and do you mind me asking how you decided?
And ML, which are you going for?
Nam, I assume if yours is in the hospital it will be a rigid one?
I want to be in it for the birth btw (the best laid plans etc).
Vibes to all (whichever sort you chose) xxx
My baby girl :kisses3: September 09 :heartsmil0 -
oh yeah, and seeing this on your notes.......to some extent this pain may be related to anxiety in view of previous history. However I can understand this and obviously cannot rule out suspicion for marginal abruption.....
:eek::eek::eek:
OK, I am aware that the pain may be related to anxiety, in fact I am pretty sure it is seeing as at I tense at every twinge, but marginal abruption?! Explains why she wasn't keen on me going home.
I promise to relax.0 -

Nam I havent had my hospital visit yet but yes I would have thought so, know some women who have used it and also recommend, I'll do some research and weigh up options but it definately sounds like it my benefit me, as I love the water anyway, and might even compliment my yoga and hypnobirthing, but I had always said I would want an epi, but you cant in water..Received £2,626.00 in PPI -2013:j

Yay! I got to the end, took me a while as we had more visitors, tea and a feed too! Thanks to everyone for asking about me and Liam
Glam - Yay on the pram bits. I think you made the right decision going for the all black option, don't think it would have worked otherwise - I think the pistachio is actually on a drk grey background. We actually took our pram out today - having problems witht he hood not staying on so going to go back to the shop tomorrow!
Oh, and I never did get the nesting instinct
Tia - are you relaxing - I saw you posted earlier about doing the kitchen and hooveringWell done on the letters - if you need distracting I've got loads of paperwork to go through here - just shout up.
Suzy - wings???
SS - your doc sounds crazy! made me :rotfl:
Hypno - hope you get things sorted with the insurance.
EA - try not to worry too much - your MS is a good sign!
Right - me and the little man:
Both doing well - he's a little angel. Sleeping well, and getting into a routine. I don't think I could have asked for a better bubba. Hubby is being an absolute star - really gonna miss him when he has to go back to work.
Pictures for anyone that wants to see
I'm still trying to write my birth story. I'm about half way through but I need hubbys input for the most part of the actual birth, in short:
Water broke but no contracts/pains, booked in for induction 24hrs later but water go green due to meconium, so go back to hospital a bit earlier. 2 cm dilated but cervix still thick. Put on monitor and moved to consultant led care - so no midwifery led acre and no birth pool
Kept on monitor throughout, and moved to delivery site and started on drip. Gas and air and then pethidine later and not really progressing, still on 2cm but cervix fully effaced.
At some point the contractions are too intense - more than the recommend 5 contractions in 10 minutes - I was having 7  - the drip is turned down from the maximum setting. At some point I am also given dia-morphine but don't know when. I'm beginning to talk rubbish but can sleep - I sleep for over an hour through contractions.
I remember being told and and 5cm dilated and the next thing I remember is being told sharp scratch and me begging hubby not to let then cut me. (He says this was the hardest part - he just wanted to leave the room as there was nothing he could do - this makes me well up!) I'm then being told to push, but I don't think I can really tell when to push and I don't feel anything down below. They keep repeating push deep - one more push etc for what feel like forever...Hubby said I was pushing for over an hour  I am totally unaware that a suction cap has been attached to baby!
Baby born and rushed to medical table. I think it took 7 minute to bring him round, but again I didn't really know what was happening, just that things weren't right. I was so out of it I didn't realise half of what had happened. Oh, and the doctor and midwife were called to an emergency so I wasn't stitched up straight away. When they came round to it, I was in a complete state - hubby had to abandon baby so that he could come and calm me down - something I feel guilty about andand being so soft.
After birth I expressed I want to try and breast feed, but both baby and I were groggy from the drugs. I was advised baby had low blood sugars due to all the distress, and that he would require a top-up feed of formula, to which I agreed. Liam was born at 8:38pm and we were moved to the ward at 3am!!! As we had managed a feed I was advised to express and Liam was fed 10mls by syringe, and his blood sugars tested as he was still low. This was to happen for the next 24hrs until he got 3 good readings. I was advised to try BF but to also express if needed. At 5am he was fed a formula top up again and I was left to get on with it.
Throughout the next day we were kind of just left to get on with feeding - I did ask for help, but didn't really get any useful advise, just to let Liam try, maybe hand express and let him lick off the nipple and to express and syringe feed as Liam was still very groggy from the drugs. He basically slept solid for the next 24hrs, he didn't even react to having his foot pricked for his blood sugar checks.
On the Wednesday evening I was lucky to be assigned a fantastic midwife for the evening shift. She spent time with me throughout the evening trying to establish BF. We had one successful feed at 11pm, but had a further 3 attempts throughout the night. I broke down at around 4pm and requested a bottle, we discussed it and I explained I felt the syringe feeding was a step too far, I always said I would try to BF but I didn't want it to become a big issue if it work :T if not I wasn't going to beat myself up. I felt I was wasting time away from hubby being in the hospital as the feeding was the only thing stopping us being discharged. To me, it was better to establish a bond with daddy than to crack BF, so we are now bottle feeding! I was discharged at 8pm on Wednesday - after we had proved bottle feeding was established. He was taking 1oz when we left the hospital, which he has increased to 2z every 4hrs and he took nearly the full 3oz at his last feed. :T
The community MW (who I have seen before, and is the only nice MW I encountered) has been both days we have been home and is very happy with our progress. We have our five week check at the hospital tomorrow, where Liam will be weighed and have his foot !!!!! test.
I am healing well, TBH the cut is not as bad as I had thought. I had visions of being cut from front to back, but it's actually a cut to the side. Oh, and nobody warned me of the clots
Anyway - I think if you've got this far, you've heard enough from me. I'm going to have to try and catch up again now :rotfl:0 -
