Hi - I only just manage to keep up and I'm on in work!

Nuchal Scan - depends on your local PCT and hospital as to whether they offer it on NHS. I would say the norm appears to be that they DON'T offer it on NHS - the norm seems to be 12 week dating scan and then 20 week anomaly scan although some people only get one scan at 20 weeks and not the 12 week one!

Nuchal scans have to be done between 11 and 13 weeks anyway - I had one done privately at Liverpool Women's Hospital. It cost me £150 which included the scan and the bloods, went on the Monday evening and had results back Thursday. The scan was great because Mister wouldn't do as he was told so it took 2 consultants 30 mins to get the measurements!

I guess u have to think to yourself - if there was a risk this baby would have Down's Syndrome what would I do?
I had the scan because I wanted to be prepared in case there was something wrong but other people just don't want to know until the baby is born.

Thanks! I didn't know if it was worth pursuing with my hospital or not. We're booking in for the private scan at 12 weeks now - I personally would rather know everything before hand even if it doesn't change what I do. Then I will push the scan they have me in for at 17 weeks back to the 20 week mark.

    Thanks everyone!

Aww GISI, you look so neat! Gorgeous :)

And because I am stalkerishly minded, I also want to compliment the wooden chest behind you in that second picture.

I was offered the nuchal scan, but my input doesn't count cause I'm outside the UK.

I'm considering going off to scrub the kitchen floor, although since there's a cleaner coming next week I might leave it. Perhaps an updated belly picture first.

Oh, and since I think we had the wedding video here and everyone liked it, here's another.

How much is the dating scan? At a dating scan they will just tell you when you are due. You need to make sure you ask for a Nuchal Fold Scan - if you're paying for the Dating Scan you might as well have the Nuchal.

It's awful you have to wait until 17 weeks though.

I had my dating scan at 12 weeks, nuchal at 13 weeks, anamoly scan at 19 weeks and growth scan at 31 weeks. Got another growth scan at 35 weeks.

I have been to this private place before so they will do a dating scan first, then bloods and then the nuchal scan at the appropriate time all for £100 so I think that is worth it. Then the NHS dating scan I will push back to be my 20 week scan and get them to do the anamoly scan instead otherwise if they are 4 weeks behind on scans I will get that one too late as well!

To do the nuchal scan your baby has to be at least 45mm crown to rump. I went at 12 weeks for the nuchal but noogle was only 44.3 so I had to go back a week later - this also doubled as my dating scan all on the NHS. I had the anomaly scan at 22 weeks.

    Morning bumpsters!

I think it depends on where you live in the country. Everyone gets offered it here (Hampshire) but I know other ladies on here weren't offered it.

I forgot to post my bump pics yesterday, even though I put them on FB. Here they are- me at 26 weeks. Off to the Isle of Wight today to see my Mummy then the in-laws. Haven't seen them all for ages so doubt they will think I am huge.

Nice bump and so very neat - I was trying to remember what mine looked like around then so went back to see if I posted any. Seems at 27 weeks we had a flurry of bump pics - heres the linky if you want to compare - it's Post 1316

Wow £100 is good for 2 scans and the bloods :money:
Make sure when you phone up to book the NHS scan you tell them that u had a private scan so want to use your 17 week scan slot to have your anomaly scan. Only because the dating scan takes a few minutes whereas anomaly scan is longer and more detailed, you don't want to turn up and find ur booked for dating scan and they won't do anamoly scan.
My hospital do them at 19 weeks so u don't have to wait til dead on 20 weeks.

Yeah, I had it on Tuesday. My notes say that the midwife was supposed to go through breast feeding with me but she didn't, she just checked noogles heartbeat and fundal height, filled in the MATB1 form and that was it - in and out in 10 mins then a 20 min wait to get my bloods done.

Thanks for the info! I think this is why the private place do a dating scan first and then book you in for the nuchal scan at the appropriate time. So will know on Monday night when the nuchal scan will be. As for the NHS 17 weeks is just too late! (and I'm not very patient :rotfl:)

Did everyone have to pay for photos from the NHS? We have to pay £5 per picture of our scan.
