Thanks Jenny! Gets good reviews for the money. Suppose I could take my Ipod in with a speaker or something. I really don't know why someone hasn't marketed waterproof books. Didn't last very long in the bath - it was too hot and I felt a bit faint so got out after a while. When I got out I got the pulsating thing in my ear that Pookie mentioned, but I get that a lot anyway pregnant or not.
Eventually remembered to pick up my iron tablets today so will start taking them tomorrow. Wonder if they will make a difference. I didn't think I was that tired considering I am up to the toilet at least 3 times each night, but we'll see if what I thought was normal isn't.0 -
Ooh, how exciting that you've got a date, Tia!!!! I'm so pleased for you. Enjoy the next week or so, putting your feet up and being looked after.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

Meant to ask last night is anyone getting the sensation of hearing their heartbeat in their ears? Hoping it's just a "more blood volume" type of thing rather than a precursor for my blood pressure rising.
Reassurance, anyone?
I used to get this - was really bad at night. I found if I lay on my side I could hear my heartbeat in my ears and it was echoing thru the pillow!
Don't notice it so much now!!!
Tia - YAY :T:T Glad ur home and have a date.
My first RLT is brewing - it smells OK. Will let u know what it tastes like in a bit!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Good luck Tia. Take things easy over the next few days and try to build your strength up for the c section. If you want to share terror stories, so you feel you're not alone, you know where I am!
In an effort to calm myself down, I've been reading up on things you can do to prepare for an elective c section. The top tip seems to be to go onto a lighter, semi fluid diet for 48 hours beforehand - so soups are good and light meals but nothing that needs loads of digestion or has too much fibre. That apparently minimises the gas pains which are the biggest discomfort afterwards. The other tips are to get out of bed as soon as you are allowed to after the surgery and to try to move a little every 2 hours at least (except during the night) even if its only a few steps from bed to chair as this speeds up the healing process and also reduces pain; and to accept all pain meds for the first 3 days whether you think you need them or not, as again you will heal quicker and faster if you keep on top of the pain, rather than let it get a grip on you, at which point you will actually need more meds than you would otherwise have done. Finally, they recommend that you minimise all visitors for the first 2-3 days and get loads of rest, and that you take in an anti-bac spray for your hands and use it before you touch anywhere near your scar and only use the hospital showers not the baths to minimise any infections. Its also important to stand up as straight as you can as soon after the surgery as you can (as there is a tendency to stoop to protect the scar) as this will avoid back problems and also keeps the scar mobile so less likely for the scar area to be sore and numb for a long time after the op.
Hope all this helps! Don't forget to pack pants that come up to your armpits!!!!0 -
Yay. Tia. Roll on 6th August.
Glam, just been to your "neck of the woods" to Toy r us, but the Baby bit.
Bought a Cotbed bedding bundle. 2 fitted, 2 flat, 2 cellular blankets for £29.99. They do have them reduced on the website to £24.99, but wasn't paying the £6 delivery charge, so paid it in petrol instead. (They have then in cream, white, blue and pink)
Was very good and actually didn't buy anything else, as apart from the laundry basket and universal pram cover i need i'm all done.
But then just had to go across to Ikea for a Hot dog. They were calling for me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Large Hot dog & full fat coke £1.40. Thats got to be MSE.0 -
Thanks NIcki - thats really useful, i've been reading bits about c-section and recovery but hadn't heard about the semi-liquid diet beforehand!0

Well, since DH has nipped out (we have decided to pick 3-4 names each and draw from a hat), I will jot down a little plan of action.
Must get,
Calcium, magnesium and arnica tablets and start them ASAP, plus more RLT (love it) and witch hazel. (for pain relief and quick healing)
Those stretchy pants from boots (got paper ones but the stretchy ones look comfy)
Some new pillows for at home and a breast feeding pillow (pillows are a scars BFF)
Jogging bottoms or the like (think my mat jeans will press against the scar)
Some sort of loofa on a stick to wash legs and lower body without bending (I remember this one)
One of those comforters for baby, just in case she is in SCBU (helps with expressing) plus, cute!
Tuesday and Wednesday, soup and high fibre bread etc (french onion soup then, yummy), accept all medication and get moving soon as (I remember them telling me that with DS2 when I was able).
Ok, sorted. Off to browse boots
Hypno, I asked, but 07/08/09 was fully booked!! lol0
