Windows 7

sold out.
The links on http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/buy/offers/pre-order.aspx are all sold out as well but I would come back every so often to check as at one point Microsoft were updating the page.
Well I checked before posting and it 'looks' like it's still there.. I can't go to the checkout as I need to register and I don't want to actually buy it. I'd still try it if I wanted one; don't know what else to suggest, apart from what you said.
Good luck to those still hunting.0 -
I have downloaded and installed Windows 7RC, in a seperate partition (H), dualbooting with vista (drive D). My programmes and files are in a third partition (C) and they work fine when booted from vista. But if I boot with w7, the main drive (C)shows up but i am unable to use the programmes installed there. Is that what is expected, and I need to reistall the programmes in drive (H), or am I doing something wrong? Hope I have made my case clear enough for someone to direct me forwards.0

It looks like its available
http://www.additionsdirect.co.uk/rf/add/s.do?Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nu=this_product&Np=1&Nty=1&Ntk=generic_search&Ntt=windows%207
but if you hover over either version of Win7 it says sold out and if you go to the individual items it says sold out. No need to register to see that its sold out.
Yep, good luck to those who are still looking for a copy.0 -

You need to reinstall them under a new operating system. With no disrespect meant, you really should not be using pre-release software if you don't know things like this.0 -

You will need to reinstall the programs with windows 7 loaded as the operating system.0 -

Ahh yes, so it does. Sorry 'bout that, didn't notice. Doh!
Ooh, people keep coming up with them. misco is on both TCB and Quidco at 3.5% CB too :T0 -
Am I missing something here? I downloaded Windows 7 free from Microsoft, why are people paying for it just now? OK it will only run until next year sometime but better to try it without paying for it.
It only took about an hour or so to download it on my 10mb Virgin broadband
And I just found out that my 2 1/2 year computer is 64 bit.
However I won't be buying Windows 7 as neither my 2 printers or my scanner work with it yet they work with Vista.

You download a trial pre-release version that will start shutting down every two hours in April and stop working altogether in July. If you don't know these things I would question why you think it was a good idea to use pre-release software.
People are buying it now because it it is cheaper than it will be later in the year when it is released.0 -

You're using an unfinished product that's intended for testing and evaluation, rather than general purpose. People are paying for it because Microsoft released a quota of copies at a promotional price in the pre order scheme. Makes sense that if you want to use it at release that you'd save yourself some money..0
