    We love chinese too :)
However, cannot very often afford to have a takeaway one ( for 5 of us it tends to cost £30 :( ). So we make our own:) very tasty!!
Good luck to hubby on the job front. Wish my hubby could have a little bit of luck finding a job, any job! He has been out of work for 15 months now. Went to college and retrained, but now cannot find anyone to take him on as an apprentice. I think his age may be hindering (he is only 42), my son was taken on almost as soon as he finished the course and is now about to carry on with the nvq. Oh well, positive thinking....something will come up no doubt!!

You should hear about the job soon, shouldn't you? Fingers crossed xx

    Hi SID,

Its the age old thing of "its easier to get a job when you are in a job" eh?

Hope something comes up for your hubby soon - he has shown he is committed to working by retraining.

Could I be really cheeky and ask if you have any recipes?!

  • Of course you can ask.......

But, we don't really follow any recipes as such. We use pork or chicken depending on which is on offer!! Soy sauce, beansprouts, noodles, sliced carrots, sweetcorn, lots of things depending on what's in the cupboard/fridge. Sorry, not very helpful. I will have a think and try to write down a few things and will post later. Hubby makes spring rolls too, I have no idea how as that's his domain! We also make prawn toast.

  • Ok, are you ready for a long reply!!!???

    Spring Rolls
    · 10 spring roll wrappers
    · ½ red pepper , thinly sliced
    · 1 carrot , grated
    · some bean sprouts
    · ¼ white cabbage , shredded
    · some rice noodles , soaked in water
    · 1 tbsp oyster sauce
    · 1 tsp soy sauce
    · 1 tsp sugar
    · some salt and pepper
    · 1 egg , beaten
    Step 2:
    Prepare the vegetables
Begin by heating the wok. When hot, add some oil, the red peppers, carrots, cabbage and bean sprouts. Cook until the vegetables have slightly softened and their tastes have had a chance to intermingle.
    Step 3:
    Finish the filling
Add the noodles, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, salt and pepper. Mix well, take it off the heat and place into a bowl to let it cool.
    Step 4:
    Preheat the frying oil
Place the pan with oil for frying over a medium-high heat.
    Step 5:
    Make the spring rolls
Place the spring roll wrapper in front of you, with one corner at the bottom so that it resembles a diamond. Brush the four edges of the wrapper with the beaten egg. Next, add the filling in the bottom part of the wrapper in a thin log shape, not touching the edges. Leave the bottom few centimetres clear. Lift the wrapper over the top and tuck it in under the filling.
Fold over the left side, and then the right side and roll it up to form a tube. Brush a little more egg along the top part and seal the roll. Repeat until all the rolls are finished.

    Step 6:
    Fry the roll
Once the oil is hot, deep fry the spring rolls until lightly brown, which should take only a minute or two. Put them on the towelled tray to let them drain.

    Next........

    · 300 g raw prawns, shells removed and finely chopped
    · 1 large Spring onions, finely chopped
    · 1 egg white, lightly beaten
    · 1 tbsp corn flour
    · 1 dash of Sesame oil
    · 1 dash of dark Soy sauce
    · pinch Salt
    · 6 slices bread, toasted (white or brown)
    · 5 tbsp white sesame seeds
    · oil, for deep-frying

    Prawn toast

    1. Mix the prawns with the spring onion, egg white, corn flour, sesame oil, soy sauce and salt.

    2. Spread one side of each slice of bread with the prawn mixture, and dip the filling side into sesame seeds. Push the seed on gently, so they don’t fall off!

    3. Deep fry the toast in hot oil, over a moderate heat - filling side up until golden brown - about 3-5 minutes.

    4. Drain on absorbent paper, cut into triangles and serve straight away.

I wll try to come up with some of the meat dishes hubby makes. Our Sunday roast is about ready....he makes that too!!:T

I'm back with a bang. Hope you are all ready for this!thanku.gif

I've been working my butt off and doing my final nightshift tonight :j. I have applied for some temping secretarial positions to tide me over for the next month or so until I receive my registration and can head to London. I'm gutted to find I'm at my heaviest weight ever - a shameful 13stone 3lbs :o. Therefore, I'm starting doing my Weightwatchers plan today, and I'm relying on you lot for threats of violence if I don't stick to it, as I can't afford to go to the weekly meetings.:rotfl::rotfl:

Anyway, back to debt busting. I've received loads of letters over the weekend and so far this week, so here goes for a breakdown.

    Barclaycard - scum.

They sent me a letter on Saturday which reads
"I write further to your recent letter alleging that we have failed to comply with our obligations in relation to your request for documents pursuant to Section 78 of the Consumer Credit Act.

Please note that we have already set out, in detail, why we are satisfied that that documents already provided to you have discharged our obligations under the Act. We are under no legal obligation to provide any further documentation to you in this regard."

    Then today

    ""REQUEST FOR PAYMENT"

You can guess the contents of this one :D

Will be sending the appropriate letter and reporting these sh1ts to the FO today.

    Onwards and upwards

A letter from Littlewoods to confirm the content of Gemma's letter (Chief Execs office), confirming acceptance of my payment arrangement. I have to say, I preferred Gemma's letter as she was sorry for my distress :D.

AA Credit Card - "We have not yet received your full credit card payment".

Will send my reply "I have not yet received the requested consumer credit agreement".:D Will follow this up with "dispute" letter and stop payments today also :D. They kindly also sent me a statement reminding how much we owe.

Had a strange answerphone message on MY mobile, for OH from Bank of Scotland. Wonder what they want? Oh thats right their money :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

They still haven't paid in the £560 agreed as part settlement of bank charges claim in respect of hardship. Will check the bank again later today. The HBOS Visa account is in dispute, so it might be about that?

Anyway thats where I am at. I received a letter from RBS to state that they will be levying charges of £190 on 7th September to my account. I am interested that these fees relate to 3 items paid when I was at my overdraft limit. One was for £1.17, one for £1 and the other from £2.57. I'll be writing to them urgently asking them to reconsider given the amount of the total they paid, and that £190 cannot be a true reflection of the actual costs incurred by the bank. They love me.:D

    Hi all,:hello:

A quick update before I head to my bed. I have officially done my last shift as a student midwife. What a manic night!

Anyway, opened the post and nothing much to report other than AA Visa have written to accept my reduced payment offer of £10 per week. A stop to all further charges and reduced interest applied. Better than a kick in the touche me thinks:confused:, however I have what appears to be an unenforceable CCA from them. Do I continue paying the reduced payments with their blessing, or do I fight the CCA thing the whole way?:o

Need to think about that one after some sleep :)
