i need your drive to do it all I didn't always have this drive - I spent longer with my head buried in the sand than I have actually doing something about it. However, now I've started - I've got the bug :j.
so reading your story commuting such a distance
managing a family as well as working full time
knowing your stuff your letters are very funny - Yes I commute but actually its not the worst existence although I know there is better to come. My husband does a better job of managing our family than me - he is the one working full time and sorting out DS the majority of the time, whilst I'm in London - yes working 12 hour shifts 7 days a week, but only having myself to look after. Family wise my only responsibility is the finances. But you are right about one thing - my letters are goddamn good :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
most of time I have sigh of dread when postie comes and screen tel calls letting answer machine get it.
you also made me think about the future.

I am SO touched, probably the most touching post I've read ever. Don't take me as a yardstick there are many people out there far more inspirational than me. I manage our own situation as well as I possibly can, but still make blunders here there and everywhere. But what I have learned, is that I have made a decision to change - and I will make mistakes but I'm still in a better place and moving in the right direction as opposed to when I was burying my head in the sand.
Your job is far harder than my lot in life - you are managing 3 young kids, doing everything you can to stretch the finances and keeping the whole ship afloat. I'm in awe of you - plus you decide today is the start of your new year. Well count me in - I'm with you! Any help I can possibly give I'm there - please keep in touch and thank you for reading the entire thread - I'm sure it wasn't all entertaining. Love to you and your family - keep at it things will change and you can do anything you put your mind to. Take it from a mature student

Aiming for a No Spend Christmas 2012!0 -
Thanks gargarve for kind word
you seem to manage so much whislt working/commutting
hubby says I put off things
yet doesnt always deal with them himself
I used to be a fultime store manager
working 50+hours so was hubby and struggled to balance childcare and costs after tax and 800quid nursury fees came home with 300quid and hated my boss the stress was making me feel quite ill.
But I quit just before credit crunch hit and thourght would find part time job
applied for lots thinking with least 10years retail experience
alevels
business and legal studies degree I get something
I either heard nothing
overqualified
employers want full flexibility
gave up looking we thourght we get by
then we had baby no 2
then this year baby no3
all planned dont think theres ever a right time to have a family
we sacraficed our chance buying home by starting a family so young I was 25
hubby was older
we got into debt just trying to live ie car repairs, appliances breaking as dident have any savings/disposable income.
wish we coulld have said we lived life beyond our means and had lots of luxuries.
im quite the bargain hunter shopping in charity shops, nct sales, carboots and ebay to enable the kids have all they need.
try to get cheap furniture for house
havenet been abroad since 2006 pre baby no 1
went on sun hol last year wasent as cheap as we thourght
havent been this year
not even doing school dinners right now as soo pricey.
middle dd cheap shes inherited her sisters old toys/clothes.
would love to clear overdrafts and credit cards for me and hubby
this year feels like we worse off than 2007
worse than 2010
we were doing so well feel like 1step foward 2step back.
Tidy the house as inspection tommorow
got 3kids home and hubbys in work until 9pm will do my best.
I start things then lose momentum have done
pad before-might restart that for very
10a day and been unsuccessful
cant do carbots as dont drive and mates not wanted to do them last 2seasons.
havent done a diary since 2009 wondering if should start one and see if motivates me/shames me into action.
had to chuckle about your i pod shuffles-thats so me lose things constantly
did your hubby every get rid of scrap pipes £200
hubbsy equally fed up of sofa diving for change sometimes week before pay day
oaccsionally doing odd payday loan just to get buy
being in lidls with just a fiver in purse
think we both been getting down and stressed
hubby thinks I should retrain to get better paid job that even if went back part time when kids in school would be more than being being trolly dolly in tesco really miss having a a career.
sort of fell into retail as always worked in retail and was one of few jobs easily get after graduating.
I fancy retraining as social worker
but what worries me is cost with tuition fees rising
its 3year course full time, 5year part time
what would i do about childcare for 2youngest ones.
plus then when i graduate with cuts how easy would it be to get jobs?
i want to pass cartest that costs money
used to ride a vespa but sold that
debts-we dident want to do dmp with reduced payments as thourght would damnage credit rating we hoping when out of debts to get a morgage.
so after debt free need to save least 10%depsit which will be a challange
so we havepaid all our debts sometimes minimimum paymennts
had late charges
had bank charges
paid off some debts in full this year.
hubby still wants no 4 im not so sure would rather wait.
decided when loan ends 2015 we going on hols abroad as will have been tough few years.
havent been debt free since 18.
guess its bit like weight I paid a lot
but less to lose/payoff to hit target
got compacent.
managed to lose 1stone 9lb baby weight this year so trying to make some positive changes.
worried how how going to afford xmas so determined to start ebaying again.
this morning posted on charges board
need to send letter to barclaycard i think requesting total list of charges.
think they even charged me for letters.
not sure if they charge me for past statments
was online wondering if will go back 6years cant remember password
would they tell me over phone very much doubt it
would be fab if could get money back allowing me to pay littlewoods/very their money back
they given me tonnes charges last 2years you tried claiming cat charges back?
my 1750 od with barclays at its limit
they owe thousands but think since court case bank charges hard to get back.
will hunt out tax credits form as they useless.
take some pics of clothes
set up new ebay account
have set up new email account
surveys- signed into valued opinions says i have 2.00 last done 2009:eek:wonder if they start sending me stuff
tried to sign into lightspeed/my opinions
said i wasent registered and joining by registration only so have no clue
must join some more
need to join cashcback sites whats difference between topcashback and quidco?
annoyed hubby renewed both cars and fdident get cashback
but we do need new homeinsurance
alsoi want sky internet/phone we already got tv wondering if can do this via quidco?
are bingo sites worth the hassle?willing to look at anythbing can do from home until can find part time job.
need to job hunt again

So will start mad ramblings on debt diaries.
gaileys new year diary starts now
line in sand stop worrying about past regrets, take action, plan for futute.

Sorry J have not been about much have a fabulous birthday tomorrow and enjoy yourself ok? ((hugs)) I am being very much mam at home and am not spending much on the day tripping but they take organising.
And gailey, bless you. Its a hard road, get your soa done and start a thread. Gargrave is a lovely person and a great inspiration.
Bonsi, welcome back.
I shall check in on a couple more threads now while I finish me cuppa, then I need sleeps!Trying to shift that debt!0 -
Gailey if you want to leave santander i fully recommend the co-op as a bank. Our debt was mainly with santander & barclays and we moved to co-op to stop them stealing all our income on charges & interest! We weren't even credit checked for the co-op account...we told them we just wanted a basic account with cheque book, d.d facility etc and it's great, best move we did! Good luck hun!
Gargrave....I wrote letters yesterday to ask again that aqua & barclaycard stop interest on hubbys account but i'm sure you wrote one amongst your many (and i had a quick flick through but couldn't find it) did you put in a quote from somewhere in yours stating that they have to stop interest if certain factors are at play (sorry very early for me, hope this makes sense lol) I sent the letters off but i think they will just ignore them and I know noone ignores yourso if you have a template would you mind sharing
pretty please
Oh and well done on your NSD!

Good call DFW! Then the Santandar debt can be treated as any other debtor and you can choose when and how much you pay off them, rather than the thieving bar stewards taking every penny that gets paid in to your account leaving you with nothing to live on.:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
I wrote to Lewis group as you know,,,,, about the Welcome loan - and my letter appears to be well received. haha. Massive changes to the credit report, am now in the fair rating!:jTrying to shift that debt!0
