I posted my pristine iPhone 4 to Simply Drop a couple of weeks ago for a quoted price of £238. After about 10 days I got an email suggesting a lower payment of £125 would be offered as my phone was SIM locked. This was utterly untrue, as Tesco Mobile unlocked this for me under contract and I tested a friend's Three SIM in my phone with no problem.
After challenging SD about this, they apologised saying:
"We are really sorry - but there has been a mistake in the mail sent out. The price was regulated due to the fact, that the home button doesn't function correctly."
Again this is completely untrue and I have requested that they return my phone asap, which they have said they will do within a couple of days at their cost.
I can only imagine that as my iPhone model is now listed at £205, they don't want to pay out the original quoted price. However, I'm out of pocket as I sent my the phone by Special Delivery postage - about £6.
The whole process is very tedious, as they don't provide a telephone number and emails typically take 24 hours to be responded to.
I chose this option as Mazuma (great last time I used them) were offering a much lower price. I won't be so greedy next time.
What a scam. All I can say is avoid Simply Drop. I really expected more from a Royal Mail branded service.0
