Sent them a good 100% working phone. The LCD background went a bit cloudy after a few years but this didn't inhibit phone use, so I thought nothing of it. (Wear and tear over the years?)
Just got an email saying I will be getting 0 for a non working (despite the fact it does completely work?!) phone.
I emailed saying if that was the case, I was quite happy to keep the phone as my spare. But they won't return it to me (even if I pay for the return).
So they get a working phone, which they will no doubt recycle and make a profit from.
Should've guessed anything to do with Royal Mail was going to be a con. Really annoyed.
Especially because I sent another phone away a month ago with a batch of stuff, but didn't send recorded, and despite everyone else getting their items, the company I used said they never received it.
Sent recorded this time, and still got screwed.
Lesson? Don't bother with these companies0 -
Got a quote of £140 on 15/12/09 for my Nokia N96, which at that time was the best cash price on offer from any of the recycling companies. I sent off my phone on Xmas eve by Special Delivery, but missed the collection, so it didn't go until 29/12/09 and was delivered to Simply Drop the day after (i.e. 15 days after the initial quotation).
I was a bit concerned after reading the feedback on this forum, because Simply Drop require the phones within 14 days of the initial quote, and also because the value of the N96 on the Simply Drop website had fallen to £116. However on 06/01/10 I got an email to say my phone had been approved for payment of £140.
I got a payment text message today (11/01/10) which I was able to take to my local Post Office with ID. The guy at the Post Office was a little unsure (they don't seem to get many of these!) but we got there in the end and I collected £140 in cash.
Yes, Simply Drop were a little slow (although it was over Xmas and the snowy weather period) and the tracking device on their website isn't perfect, but I am happy to have gotten rid of my temperamental N96 for £140.
I might even try and sell some of the accessories now!0 -
I registered on the website to sell an old blackberry mobile phone for £12 .... got the envelope and posted the phone on the 12th january .. still not heard anything so i rung customer services today and was told firstly the phone hadnt been received then told the blackberry had been received but couldnt be cross referenced with myself so i had to provide the imei ... i havent got this and cant provide it as i bought it off ebay and havent got the box ....i asked how it couldnt be because i wrote the reference on the front and she told me that the number must have fallen off ... told her it was impossible as there wasnt anything to fall off as it was written on the front of the envelope she then changed her mind and said that it must have got damaged and a digit must have been rubbed off ... total poppy !!!! i said , she said if i didnt provide the imei she couldnt help ..
i emailed customer services complaining and got a two line reply saying they didnt have my phone and would contact me when they did ... so i emailed back again asking how long it takes same reply came back , so i asked again and now no reply ... has anyone had any issues like this ...
i expect this off a two bit company not royal mail and am really cheesed off i ever used them , its only £12 but its my property they have ,......
any help would be appreciated0 -
I used simplydrop.co.uk and have to say not only did they offer me the best price for a N96 and N95 £140 and £86 respectively but the process was painless. They even mailed me to say they hadn't received the phones.
I also opted for text payment which I recommend, and worked very simply. I got a text (so you need another phone!) once they'd received the phones, took my phone with the text to the post office where the lady pressed the buttons the text said and I got the cash there and then (you do need to to take other ID such as bill and CC). Very easy and it was less hassle and as good a price as Ebay.
Also I only needed to send the phone, no charger or anything else so I've got a few spares! Maybe I can sell these on Ebay!
Can't fault them - but then maybe I got luckyLosing Debt - Getting Fit :T0 -
My colleague found this forum and informed me of the dodgy people at Love2Recycle... so I rushed back to the post office and managed to get my phone back.... Phew...
I’m now sending all my phones to Mazuma and Fonebank....
Mazuma have now processed my order and the cheque is on its way... J
Companies who can afford to advertise on TV, have the money in the bank to pay people.... unlike Love2Recycle who are fleecing people....0 -
i sent my sons lg cookie off to simply drop this week, it had a minor scratch on the screen but was working perfectly when i sent it in. i have had an email this morning to say that they will be paying me £0.00 as the phone is not working. i'm utterly disgusted, i've demanded by email that the phone be sent back under the 14day contract cooling off period as if it is damaged it has either been damaged in transit or by the people at simply drop. the phone lines are closed today. i'll be contacting trading standards about this too, the phone is only 6 months old! i only sent it to simply drop as i thought it would be ok as its royal mail.
I WOULD NOT TOUCH THESE PEOPLE WITH A BARGEPOLE- BE WARNED!July- coconut body shop body butter, pom bear football, mini johnsons lotion, Sally Hansen nail treatments0 -
Just curious with regards to how people are packaging there phones when they send them? Perhaps the phones are being damaged in transit and thus getting less money then they feel they should?
When I sent mine to them I used a load of bubble wrap and cardboard sleeve inside the envelope and had no quibbles from them.0 -
I packed my phone for simply drop in the bags they provided, which, looking back were simply plastic bags, and you had to fill in the code you would have received after registering yourself and the phones online. BUT I did hand deliver them at the post office which I'd recommend so I get proof of postage. Thinking back it would probably have been a good idea to bubble wrap them first:)Losing Debt - Getting Fit :T0

Just in the middle of a dispute with SimplyDrop - not sure how this is going to work out.
I sent 4 phones to them in the same packaging. Well wrapped, sealed and with a proof of posting completed. - 2 iPhones, a Sony Ericsson and a Motorolla.
Just heard out today by email, that they have paid out on the Sony Ericsson and the Motorolla, but they say they haven't received either of the iPhones !!!.
Fortunately I have the IMEII numbers and have provided them tonight. So now I wait and see if the phones or the cash turns up.
One point of note - I received my PayPal payment for the phones they agree they have received within 24 hrs of getting the confirmation.
I'll post again here when I get to the bottom of the issue.

By way of an update, it appears that SimplyDrop have found my missing phones - I've just had an email to say that the payment is on it's way.
Can't say that this has been the most straightforward and stressless service, however it does seem that errors have been rectified relatively quickly.
Final update to follow when the money arrives.
