Isn't child benefit still paid if they're under 19 and in full-time education - or has that changed?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

No, actually, having looked - it's a bit more complicated than that...

Though for DD2, she'll get it until she leaves school."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Thanks. It looks as if DD1's will definitely stop but DD2's may continue. She wants to do an art foundation course, which isn't on the list of qualifying courses but seems to be the kind of course that's covered. However, the child benefit won't even cover her fares to college, let alone her food and keep. Luckily she has a good work ethic and I hope the course will leave her enough time for some decent earning.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

My DD will be starting uni this year too ( hopefully) 7 year course . As far as I know her child benefit will end in May as she is going into advanced education. If it had been non-advanced then I would still have got money for her. I will also lose her tax credits and the maintenance I get from her dad. I reckon I will need to sell my body parts :rotfl:.5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
Currently CC £23,674.36 /£14,895.41/£14315.42
Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.000 -
Happy new year to you and yours xx0

Sell her dad's body parts.
What you lose in quality can be made up in quantity."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

ZTD you made me laugh there. The quality would certainly be dubious.5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

My dad was many things, but the one thing I am always grateful for is that he helped out whilst I was at university. Even though the maintenance should have stopped when I was 18, he paid me an allowance till I left.
I always hate it when divorced (usually male) do a happy dance when their child turns 18 and they don't HAVE to pay money to their keep any more. They seem to forget that had the marriage survived they would be paying for that child till way after 18 if they go to college. So why penalise the CHILD just cos you get divorced? Sorry rant over now
