Poor you. I hate moments like that when you realise there just aint enough in the pot to eke out. Take a deep breath and a solution will hopefully come. Great news that hubby is bringing some income in, at least you will all eat
. Good luck this month xx

Not a nice thing, but could you pawn anything to make up the shortfall? Sorry to hear that you main job is so pants. Oh help about the building and the clutter. Can any of it go in the garage/shed to get it out of the way of the building work. By the way was the work covered on the insurance?
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Hi Chev. yes, the building work is covered by insurance - we have to pay £1000 excess, but will get a rebuilt and mostly redecorated home so I'm pleased about that really. They have already fixed the subsidence and the main building work starts tomorrow.
We don't have anything to pawn, I am hoping OH will sell some stuff, he has some old artwork that might fetch a bit at auction.
Some good news - DD2 has got a job in a magazine publisher's office for a few weeks, starting tomorrow, This is through an old friend of mine. So at least one of the family will have some money to spend! DD1 is going to Cornwall this weekend and I'm taking the other children to a mini festival, I'm looking forward to that. So can grit my teeth and get through the misery at work. I know my job is not bad compared to a lot of people's do I don't want to moan. I didn't hear anything from the job I applied for last week, so assume I won't be getting that one.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Good news about DD2. Also good news about the house. I know it's a thousand pounds, and I know it's upheaval, but in the long run it will be an excellent thousand pounds spent.
It's very early days to assume you won't hear anything about your application if you sent it only last week. After the closing date, they have to go through applications, possibly several people will have to look at them, they have to short-list, get in contact with people ... it takes time. I know people who have had to wait weeks before they hear anything, so don't despair yet."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Morning all. Still nothing from the job, thanks Wordsmith for the reassurance, I know you're right but l can't help feeling hope is fading.
I had another lightbulb moment this morning. I bumped into a friend on the train and we went for a coffee before work (rather exciting, like playing hooky from school). We got talking about money and when I mentioned the size of my overdraft, and that I had paid for my season ticket on a credit card, I could see the shock and astonishment on his face. I found myself talking about how OH doesn't work, etc etc, and friend said lots of chev-like things and also that he felt like punching OH in the face (which I am sure chev is too ladylike to say).
For once I didn't feel like defending OH. When I got to work I phoned him and told him to get on with selling his rock 'n' roll artwork and to come up with a plan for how he is going to get freelance graphic design work. It will be interesting to see if he does anything this time.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

I wonder what everyones views would be in the roles were reversed ? Perhaps the Op could spend more time working on her marriage and less time running the poor man down on here . Imagine how you would feel OP if your OH aired all your faults to all and sundry , especially to people in real life ., especially ones who advocate punching your oh in the face ..........how could you let someone say something like that ?Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0
