All I am asking for is a level playing field that the CSA dont keep changing the rules to suite themselvs as they do at this time. There are many modles that show that household against household would be a better way as there are the other way. But in my view to put the income of one person against the income of two is wrong.fair comment BUT this doesn't take into account what the incomes are...in much the same way that allocating 20% of income doesn't. I think (and no doubt someone will shoot me down in flames) that they went for the best fit here and were attempting to make people responsible for children brought into the world.
Another thing they could do is to limit child benefit so it's only paid for one child - but sshh don't give 'em ideas...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson Janice 1964-2016 Janice 1964-2016

These discussions always seem to end up in the same place. Let's face it there are PWCs and NRPs who try to play the system and there plenty of good PWCs and NRPs who try and do the right thing by their children. CSA is not perfect and needs to be changed, I'm not sure that CMEC is the right answer either, but without this there would be plenty of families struggling to cope.
I didn't want to involve the CSA but my ex did as she thought she would get a better deal. I think parents should try to keep the CSA out of it if possible, a dream maybe and not possible in most cases.0

"I didn't want to involve the CSA but my ex did as she thought she would get a better deal"
This seems to be the running theme throughout many cases... my partners ex was not best pleased when she discovered I was carrying our first child.. and so what was her response?? "I'll take you to the CSA and then I'll get all of your money".. Of course, she did so and it worked in her favour for 2 years. 2 Children later, they finally account for them in the assessment and the CSA agree that NRP has overpayed. Why should it take so long to take the NRP second family into consideration, and yet it takes weeks, if that, to process a claim and start deducting money from the NRP wages? I still await a letter saying that their calculation was wrong and my partner owes them X amount of money, who knows how it works
My question is this though, why do so many PWC (not ALL) use the CSA as a weapon because the NRP has moved on?0

Maybe because the CSA is the only organisation able to collect for a PWC, I don't think courts are used any longer in maintenance cases (are they?) So I guess something is better than nothing, of course we could all do what I did and close the case and expect the state to look after my child rather than his "father" and I use that word very loosely! So you see there is no other way really is there? Can I just say that no-one is forced to use the CSA anymore on benefits or not. Cases are only taken on now if requested by the pwc (or nrp at that). I agree with everyone on here that a lot of mistakes are made but people still ask the CSA to take on their case. Why ask when everyone thinks they make such a mess of things?Hit the snitch button!member #1 of the official warning clique. :j:D

Moving on is fine, as long as the children in the previous relationship are not left by the way side and "forgotten".Hit the snitch button!member #1 of the official warning clique. :j:D

Has anyone ever thought that nrp's and pwc's also work for the CSA?0

But then is it fair to blaim the staff for the CSA problems when rules have to be followed and they have nowhere else to go eitherMaybe because the CSA is the only organisation able to collect for a PWC, I don't think courts are used any longer in maintenance cases (are they?) TBH it would help if the CSA staff all sang from the same song sheet the last encounter that i had with them we just rather stupid, I think I spoke to at least 3 different "advisor's" all three got the same question and they all came away with a different answer. But then is it fair to blaim the staff for the CSA problems when rules have to be followed and they have nowhere else to go either Hit the snitch button!member #1 of the official warning clique. Don't get me wrong I don't disagree with what you are saying I just think it is more of an organisational problem than the people who work there. I have a friend who works there and have been told the moral of the staff is really low with more and more work piled onto everyone while the senior mgt sit in their 'ivory towers'TBH it would help if the CSA staff all sang from the same song sheet the last encounter that i had with them we just rather stupid, I think I spoke to at least 3 different "advisor's" all three got the same question and they all came away with a different answer. 0 0
