I lost a stone in a month by skipping every other evening meal.
It works a treat, especially when the weather is hot and my appetite goes down.

I've just joined tesco diets, hopefully this will get the healthy eating started and the weight will fall off!

svjenni - in order for alli to work you need to eat as close to your fat allowance as possible. As ww is low fat, alli won't be as effective. There are some really helpful people on their forum who can advise you on this. As rinroo has said, ww is effective on it's own.

chardonnay - I didn't even bother going to see my doctor, I know what the response would be. He looks at me as though I am wasting his time whenever I go and see him. Sadly i live in a village and the other doctor is oversubscribed!
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

How many dress sizes do you think its possible to drop in 4 months?Last time I measured myself I was an 18 and was aiming to be a 16 by the wedding,I have not bought any clothes bigger than an 18 so they must have just grown with me or something.I had a dress shop appointment today and they had to order my dress in a 24!!!I was shocked at that.
Do you think 3 sizes, down to an 18 is possible in 4 months? How much weight loss do you think that would be,maybe a stone per dress size?

taadaa, shame you have a useless doctor, we've got one in our surgery and funnily enough he always seems to have space for emergency appointments- i don't think anyone wants to see him if they don't have too.

sheloves to buystuff - don't worry about the shop size - (easier said than done) - but apparently wedding dresses are always small made. most brides find their dress is a bigger size than they wear normally

Alli (Orlistat) works by inhibiting fat absorption in the gut. The more fat you eat, the more you will excrete, in the form of fatty poo and oily discharge (sexy!). You don't need to increase your fat intake for it to work more effectively, and cutting down on the amount of fat in the food you cook and eat is more beneficial than relying on the orlistat to stop it being absorbed. If you eat a low or no fat meal, you should skip the orlistat as it will have no therapeutic effect while still exposing you to the side effects.

When I went to a dress shop I was told wedding dresses always come up 1-2 sizes smaller (sometimes more) as there is no give like everyday clothes so they told me not to worry about the size of the wedding dress.

I have lost just over 3 stone since end of Jan at the start I was a standard size 18 just over 5 months later I am a (just) 14 on the bottom but I'm still a 16 on top due to my boobs. I think it depends on your body shape and where the weight come off, I seem to be losing most off my waist and thighs.
  • I am a bit concerned about the amount they can take the dress in.The lady said 2 sizes, maximum 3 sizes but if I had to order 2 sizes bigger for the sake of my boobs to start with so it already needs taken in 2 sizes at the waist once it arrives to fit me now and if,I mean when,I lose weight I would worry it couldnt be altered any more than that.

This why i'm taking it - only to help me a little. I bought alli to use with my normal diet but after getting weighed at the doctors last week i have realised I have to get this weight off. As the alli is in my cupbard anyway, I'm taking it with my main meal, or my lunch if that has fat in it.

Well been on the diet since thurs and things are going well. Went to a carvery today and while i still ate a little too much I actually left some meat and potatoes which is usually unheard of!!

Well Done - small things like this will help make a big difference. :T In a few weeks it will become second nature - saying that i still pig out occasionally - Like tonight h2b is treating us to an Indian takeout as we've had a hectic day but i'll be good and stick to whats lower points.

I can now happily sit in McD's when h2b occasionally treats the boys to one and not even pinch a chip..well maybe just 1;)
