Coupon-mad wrote:I usually shop in Tesco as some cashiers accept every last bit of paper/coupon/voucher/used tissue from my pocket as payment before I have to dust off my credit card and pay the remaining few quid with real money...
But fancied a change and, having read this site went to Asda in search of a £2 giftcard. No probs, without even trying, just memorised a few prices then studied the receipt then off to CS once I found the error(s).
Biscuits (2 for 80p) did not work for me but found small blue packs of MINI JAFFA CAKES ('proper' ones not Asda's own efforts) marked down to 27p - lol they scanned at 40p. Also got 2 different packs of chilled tandoori/tikka chicken, should be 2 for £5 but offer did not work, no probs with refund of difference altho' CS said it only applied to one type (I don't think so but went home happy).
Only miffed by the cashier who would only accept 2 manufacturers' coupons off shopping (thought it was 10% at Asda?) so went to Tesco later and offloaded £20-worth of coupons for a £30 shop....no r&r's noticed though!
I thought i was the only coupon giving looney!!! My local tesco only takes 10% off your shopping bill where as asda will take £5 worth if spending £10 or more (all stores are different) and ADD IN there mis-price policy, I often only spend £4 on a £11/£12 shop!!!! (spend about £11, hand over £5 of coupons and a £2 gift card from last shop = £4!). Its worth researching what is going through the till mis-priced as for a little effort they have to give you £2 gift card. The coupons are the best part tho, easily available on a famous auction site. Sad i know, but some days i do 5 small £11/£12 shops .... first 3 shops get the non-chilled products, next 2 get frozen and chilled food. just take each shop to car, unload and go back in. Takes about hour n half but £25 of coupons and a few £2 gift cards later, a £60 shop will cost about £25. A couple of times i complained (tongue in cheek) that i had been UNDER charged. On each occasion the CS thanked me and gave me a £2 card. Never asked for the difference back tho thankfully!!!!:j :j :j0 -
I had an arguement about 1hr ago, over the 'Any 2 for 80p' biscuits. The CSA told me it meant any 2 the same! I asked where abouts it said that and he said 'It's obviously clear it means that'.
I disagreed and we argued for about 10mins, he just couldn't see my point.
In the end a bakery assistant nearby overheard the conversation and came to my defence.
To which the CSA started on him.
I said I didn't think Trading Standards would agree with him on his perception of the wording, so he gave me the difference......................12p!
I asked for a £2 gift card (time wasted alone was about 20mins), and the cheeky begger said 'I only gave you the 12p to get rid of you. I still think my idea of the wording is right'.
I asked for a manager, he rang and spoke to one on the phone.
Don't know what was said but he said 'Oh the manager said to give you the card THIS time'. I was too tired for any more arguing, took my £2 and left.

Thought I'd resurrect this thread...
Was overcharged at Asda tonight: got a 1l bottle of dilutable Vimto (which incidentally is also Try Me Free, so you can get it free anyway as long as you keep the receipt), shelf said £1.30, scanned at £1.36. I noticed it completely by accident
Had to specifically ask for my gift card - always have to in this store, they really don't advertise it.
Hope this is nationwide - unfortunately there is no way of knowing, unlike with most Tesco misprices0 -

It is people like you who makes working at any type of customer service job horrible.
I'm guessing you don't go and have a massive argument when you get under-charged do you?0 -

Nice first post (not)
LL was standing her ground and I would have done exactly the same, as it was to me an obvious misprice. If Asda were more open regarding their policy of £2 back on a card, instead of trying to withhold it unless asked, then customers wouldn't have to argue their case in the first place.
We have also had in past threads MSE's who have returned goods which they have been under charged for, so it does happen actually.
I'm guessing you work on a customer service desk??
Have a nice dayNow thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker0 -
I'm not 100 percent certain but I remember reading the 2 pound gift card policy wording while I was waiting for CS one day.
It said that you get a 2 pound card for each product that is mis priced. So get 5 packs of "x" 2 packs of "y" and 1 pack of "z" thats mispriced in one shop and you should in theory be due a 6 pound gift card. I've never had more than one mis-price in a shop before, so never tried for it.
I'll see if the poster is still up next time i go (read it a few months ago)
