Their is no such thing as FREE broad band it comes at a price. As does a Free Lunch.

Mmmm... went on the CPW website to check it out... seems like a good deal to me: 8MB, download limit 40GB, the only tghing is that you need to register for talk talk and let them handle your connection, which means that instead of paying line rental to BT you do so to CPW... shame i just changed my ISP and am therefore stuck for a year.... Darn!0

It may not be as good as the big players but its got to help get the prices down a bit, Which must be a good thing when fixed price dial up first started it changed everything for everyone then it was broadband at a fixed price and now FREE . Lets see what the big players make of that.0

ive just been on the phone to cfw they are saying i cant switch to them only bt users can switch. im with bulldog so i would have to switch back to bt then switch to them it that means i would be without internet access for a while. i dont think i will bother it seems a bit of a carry on as usual with these phone companies0

Silver fox - you do need a BT line to take talktalk. This is why it is unavailable to cable customers of which bulldog are one.0

I've looked at ADSL Guide article on this and am confused by this:
Mr Dunstone makes some bold claims about the telecoms market changing forever, and only history can be the judge of these things. The comment about broadband being a right and a not a privilege is interesting, since the company even inside its coverage area is going to have perhaps 0.4% of its potential customers who can get no exchange based ADSL service. Providers using unbundling do have the ability to resolve this, by using sub-unbundling which means injecting a DSL signal onto the local loop outside the exchange, and thus reducing the distance it travels to reach the consumer. We doubt Carphone Warehouse are looking at that route.
Am I reading this incorrectly or is it saying that 0.4% of customers will actually be able to get the 'free' service and the other 99.6% are going to be paying an additional £10 for their 'free' broadband?

It really doesn't look all that good when you start doing research on what their current customers have to say about their services and support - imagine being locked into that for 18 months.0 -
the front page headline of today's evening standard carries the story about cpw free broadband access. it's obviously being used as an incentive to take up their talk talk landline offer. i imagine the 'big boys' will follow suit shortly. i'm considering applying for skype- this is the REAL future.
it's incredible to think that our kids will grow up NEVER knowing a world with just 3 tv channels, no mobile phones, no internet, and possibly never having to use a landline. maybe newspapers are next? after all, smash hits mag closed recently cos when 11-16 year olds want to read about their fave pop stars, they just go on the net! the printed media to them is SO last decade!

i am not connected by cable i have a bt phone line coming in my house i assume bulldog pay bt to use it and i pay bulldog line rental if i explain that to talk talk will i be able to switch to them0 -

It may not look good, but do you appreciate that it is far more likely that people will complain about bad service rather than praise good service? Have you ever wondered why you rarely see any threads that commend when a company has done well?
With this in mind, yes there will be forums and sites that hit out at TalkTalk for being rubbish, but people should remember that there will be far more happy customers than the minority who have had a bad time, otherwise you'd see the company fall quite dramatically.
I've been with TalkTalk for over a year and a half now and am very pleased with their prices, service and packages so I recommend that people do not let bad experiences cloud judgement to such a degree that you immediately dismiss them as a viable option.The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits...0
