Even if the service is rubbish with TT/ cpw, I think it will prompt other (better) companies from offering a similar service... this can only be a good thing.
It's better to travel hopefully than arrive...

    and

    talk 3 £9.99
this gets u unlimited landline calls at any time

    but

theres also free international calls to 28 countries

sounds like a good deal to me, tuesday is my first day back at cpw after a week off........i thinks im going to be busy!!!!!!!
  • There have been lots of threads about the Broadband offer from talktalk so i thought i would give you the actual facts and you can ask me any questions that you have.

I work at the CPW head office and the information that i will give you is 100% accurate.

    1. TalkTalk will be offering free broadband when you sign up to the talk 3 landline package. This costs 9.99 per month.

    2. The free broadband is not for a promotional period - it will be for as long as you have talk 3, potentially forever.

    3. Talk 3 currently gives you unlimited free calls to any UK landline, 24/7 but from tomorrow you also get unlimited free calls to 28 countries worldwide, 24/7 (incl. USA, Oz, New Zealand, S. Africa etc - full list on the website from tomorrow).

    4. Free BB will not be available to everyone, only those people that live in an area where we can unbundle the local exchange. We anticipate 70% of the UK.

    5. The broadband will be up to 8 Mb - depending on your BT exchange. You will get the fastest available (and this will be as fast as you can get from anyone else)

    6. There is a download limit of 40GB. Peer to peer usage is restricted to off-peak and if you are a volume user then this is not for you - you will be kicked off.

    7. We are anticipating a wait unless you get in early (this is not a cheap attempt to get you to sign up soon). This offer is extremely strong and we are forecasting very high demand which, despite a lot of investment, our systems might struggle with

    8. There may be instances where you go live with a slower version of broadband (still free) which then gets accellerated once the local exchange has been unbundled.

    9. Existing customers can take up this offer. Those already on Broadband are not likely to have to queue for the new service

    10. You have to take talktalk line rental instead of BT. They are exactly the same price - the only difference being you pay TT instead of BT

    11. There is a one off connection fee of £29.99 to switch over to the unbundled exchange - this is charged on the first BB bill

    12. The talk 3 contract is 18 months long - it demonstrates that the free broadband commitment is long term

These are the main points as i can remember them. If you want anymore information, please post your question and i will do my best to answer it

Talk3 International calling plan £9.99/month TalkTalk line rental £11/month (You pay this to us instead of BT – it's not an extra cost) Broadband FREE FOREVER TOTAL £20.99/month
    Connection fee
Sadly we do have to charge you a one-off connection fee of £29.99. This is a contribution to the cost of transfering your line from BT to TalkTalk.

    What about online security?
TalkTalk provides two online security packages to choose from- Standard and Premium. You can get a 90 day FREE trial to the standard package after which it is ?1.75 per month. The Premium package is ?2 per month. All you need to do is select the relevant box during the set-up process.

Just did a check on availability, line rental and calls would change in 3 weeks but broadband would not change until the end of May

Suits me down to the ground does this offer!

TalkTalk already give me free evening and weekend calls to Ireland anyway but now its 24/7 that's even better!

We have family in Italy and friends in Canada so that saves again.

I've had no problems personally with their 1MB broadband service (£14.99 p/m) and I've had it for exactly a year now.
  • This can only be good news for us all ,now are broadband suppliers will have make there service cheaper to stop us changing landline and broadband to talk talk. So fingers crossed NTL Blueyonder BT & AOL sort out some better deals now.

I think this sounds like a great deal (subject to reservations about the quality of their BB service).

I would look at it the following way. Unless you are on cable, you are stuck with line rental, whether with BT or TalkTalk. (OK, Post Office are slightly cheaper, but not much.) So, ignoring the line rental, for £10 TT gives you BB and their top call package.

Up to now, you can't get BB for less than about £12-13, so this is going to save at least £2-3, just on the BB. Plus you get all your phone calls free, except 0845/0870, mobiles and calls to unusual destinations like China.

If BT, AOL, NTL, Wanadoo don't match this they are going to lose millions of customers.
