When I get married (*cough*) I will be having little tin buckets with mint plants in them with anote sayin to go home and plant me. Somebody mentioned something simaler here with lavender. I think it looks pretty, adds to the table decoration and acts as a lasting memorial.
Right .. I'll skulk off to my not getting married corner now! I like to frighten my BF with comments like this!
Your post has made me laugh! I'm exactly the same, my and my OH talk about it but we haven't made anything 'official ' yet!! I love reading about other peoples plans and ideas though...just incase!
I love the idea of lavender on the table in mini pots, very pretty and cheap to do, plus I love the cup cake and love hearts ideas, Mmmm!Living as simply as we can

Yes. What you wrote was borderline hypocrisy. The internet is about opinions and judgements and everyone's right to express them. Slating someone for having an opinion is like telling them not to !!!!ing swear.mshelsbels wrote: »Have I missed something?

Cool thread! We have got squares of Godiva chocolates bought for half price from a stand thatwas closing down. Although I did need to get another box at full price but the whole lot cost £25 for 70 people (36p each). And cos it's Godiva, it looks expensive and classy!

we had quite a few different favours as we had guests travelling along way and wanted to give them something but they didnt cost us alot as we got some free by writing lots letters to different companies.
We had for everyone little chest boxes (brought in sale 70 for £15) and put in scrunched up burgandy tissue paper (few pounds) and added 5 mint imperials (value bags from asda cost £1 for 3 or4 bags).
also for everyone we had small chocolate bars (free from writing to an organic company) and then hand tie little name tags to each one and these double-up as place names.
men - mini whisky (free from asking companies only one out of the 10 we wrote to gave us them and actually gave us double what we asked for) we put these in mini organza bags we got from lovely person on "hitched" for free just paid postage.
ladies - mini bottles of perfumes (again free from company just by asking) and these were put in mini bags again and this was my wedding perfume also.
guests really appreciated all the little gifts.
we also had mini sparklers that cost £4 for box of 8 wedding sparklers in whsmith as for indoor use and I got them for someone on "hitched" on for sale section for £7 inc postage for 8 boxes of 8 so one for each table.0 -
freebiequeenie, think i've seen you post before, and am impressed at how much you managed to get! was going to do the same after seeing your post and know you have said before that you wouldnt give the names of the places that donated - which i think is very decent of you, but i'm stuck with what to say? did you use one letter for all companies, and would you mind sharing some of the wording - or getting me started!!getting married: 02/10/10

We didn't have favours as such as we thought it was unnecessary expense given that a lot of people probably wouldn't even take them away with them. Instead we had a bit of a sweetie theme, on each table we had jars of haribo:

These went down really well, kids and adults alike loved them!
For the name tags we had Swizzlers lollies;
These took AGES to prepare as we had to unwrap 150 lollies, rewrap them in clingfilm to make them look nicer, and then tie the tags on which was painstakingly slow. They went down a storm though, everyone commented on how fab they were which I was pleased with as they were in the place of favours.
The jars for the haribo cost us 99p each and we bought £25. For 72 big bags of Haribo and 240 lollies we paid £60 (we got them through someone who works for Bonds at cost price), the tags and ribbon for the lollies weren't cheap but well worth doing. We probably ended up spending just as much as we would have done on favours in the end!!0 -
