What favours are you having, and how much were they?

We're having personalised miniature whisky for the men and miniature perfumes in organza bags for the ladies. Also having a goody bag for the kids (all 3 of them, lol!)
We're just having 30 guests so wasn't going to bother but my mum and her hubby do the personalised miniatures and my sis and her hubby do the miniature perfumes so they're doing them for us for nothing! Hurrah! Truly MSE

We are having personalised bags which will have little boxes with sugared almonds and mints and miniature silver lanterns with candles in them for our guests (70). This has cost us about £150 in total.
Couldn't really think of anything else to give them.
We are getting married on 20th December 2009 in Jamaica!!!:j0 -
I have to admire your creativity at selecting/creating favours.
Just makes me think, Am I in the wrong, as we have chosen to have no favours at all. Seeing as we are paying for the meal, the booze etc, do people really expect a gift as well?0 -
I just got my chocolate heart Lolly's delivered today they look really lovely, very pleased with them, think 60p is quite a good price for them.
They look really good, definitely just joined my shortlist

I think it's one of those assumed things, a bit like party bags at a kids party. It doesn't really matter what's in it and doesn't have to cost a great deal, it's the thought that counts

No, you're totally fine. Favours are either cheap chocolate, or tat that's banished to the back of the cupboard (apart from those VW tealights which are the only good favour I have ever seen) I don't want a glass with your name on, a mirror with your wedding date engraved or your sugared almonds. Save your money and put it towards your honeymoon that you'll no doubt be asking your guests to pay for.
And before you think I'm wedding bashing, I'm not. I love a good wedding. I just won't be handing out chintz at mine, my guests will be fed, watered and entertained, and I don't even expect anything in return apart from them.,___,

I have to be honest and say the only reason that we're having favours is becasue we're getting them for no cost or else I would have put the money towards something else.
I think there are more weddings these days not having favours than there used to be.0 -

Nothing to do with favours, but where in Jamaica are you getting married? My OH's uncle got married in Jamaica in April and it the best wedding I've ever been too.....Location helped obviously!

Kids party I understand, but the bit I struggle with is seeing as I am paying out around £80 per head, which includes a free round of golf for the boys, a 4 course dinner and enough booze to satisfy a Glaswegian with a thirst.
And guests still expect a gift?0
