  • Hi, Amiga, just to say that glad that your suicide attempt was unsuccessful and that things appear to be looking up slightly for you. It sounds like you have been through a really rough time, so hopefully you have now reached rock bottom and now the only way is up.

I think that once you go BR, there will be a sense of relief. That was my experience, I think because I felt that I was finally reasserting a degree of control over my life again, for the first time in a very long time.

I assume that having been admitted to hospital, you will receive a 'seven day follow-up' with the local primary care mental health team. Try to keep the appointment as they can be very helpful and supportive. They will have lots of experience of helping individuals with difficulties similar to yours and you may be surprised at the resources available to you. Even if they don't prescribe you medication, there are other alternatives such as talking therapies, which you may find helpful.

Good luck and keep posting here for both advice and emotional support. Things will get better, I promise.

hey amiga i got myself into a bit of debt with gambling to, though no where near 48k, i lost about 3k, started off on a good run and was up about 1.4k very quickly but with some stupid bets lost quite a lot which also drove me to drink to much alcohol, i think now i've got my gambling under control as i only bet a couple of quid on a game of football instead of having near 1200 on a game, good luck.

Once again a thousand thank yous

No real update as such, The court never called back, I called them today and they said they would get back to me

so no actual date as yet :(

Yes I have to attend counselling for what I did, At the moment I am just talking about my feelings, I feel when I get through Bankruptcy I may open up a little more. For now the debt is pretty much all I think of 99% of the time

I still attend my GA meetings too - I haven't gambled for a short while now and hopefully I won't again

One quick question that you may be able to answer. I currently live in a shared house - this was a rushed decision just to get a roof over my head. I actually really hate it here now. So my question is when I get a job I will be able to afford to rent a studio flat for not a whole lot more than I pay now - however when I start earning and I am bankrupt I understand that there may be some type of IPA which I fully accept. Would it be ok to get a job ( and tell the OR rightaway) and then look for a flat ( and increasing the rent on the original SOA) Or will the OR say I have to stick where I am as it costs less?

Once again you are all awesome and the only people I can talk to about my BR!

    Hi

Glad to hear you're doing well.

I'm pretty sure you'd be okay to move out even if the rent is a little bit more. They can't make you stay somewhere if you are unhappy!

  • The OR job is secure payments to creditors and by leaving you with a Reasonible living not just a basic living he is not the to judge or tell you where you can and cant live. If you have no job and on JSA only, then no IPA will be implimented.

    Rememeber the OR's are human

    Thanks

I realise I sound pathetic but I really just don't want to annoy the OR anymore than I already have!

I need to get this Image of the OR as a Devil with a pointy stick out of my mind! :)

You don't sound pathetic at all, you're going through a stressful situation and are doing your best to gather as much info as possible to help you.

    Amiga,

So sorry and sad to hear of your troubles. I understand feeling so low you want to end it all, thankfully I was not very good at it either ;) Do take care of yourself and next time you feel this way try and find a friend or someone to talk to, even if its a rant on this forum or a call to an anonymous counsellor, as many have already said your health is far more important than any debts you owe.

    Take care,
    dack
