It was odd. I asked and she said, "well we have until August" so that made me think I won't be finding out for a while yet.

typical examiner speak, they wont like to tie themselves down. normally after the second interview your looking at about 3-4 weeks. They write a report which goes of to a seperate department that checks for legality (they have to assume that it will go before a judge) and that the length of the BRO is consistant with the rest across the country. then they write to you saying that they knock a bit of time off if you accept an undertaking

    Thanks once again Debtinfo!

I actually go away on the 4th of May for a week. ( this is to my friends dads Villa in Spain, costing me only the flight which is a easyjet special) I have asked the OR and she said that is fine. That is around 6 weeks or so, will I need to be here for when the BRU comes through the post?

no, they will give you 14 days or so in which to accept or reject the undertaking.

  • Hey Amiga, here's hoping your week in the sun will do you the world of good. I went BR in January last year and was told I was looking at a BRU/O after they'd carried out further investigations - which could take a few months. I've battled for years health issues and depression was a side effect of it all. I got myself into a real state about the possibility of a BRU but then I thought... 'No, I've done the hardest part and a BRU isn't the worse thing that could happen.' I was lucky that my doctor wrote to the OR telling them I wasn't able to do a face-to-face interview so at least I was spared that bit. Anyway, I heard nothing further until July when I got phone message asking me to call them. I went into a nose-dive and dreaded calling them back but... when I did they only wanted to know if I was still interested in buying back the beneficial interest in my house! I heard nothing from them again and it was only looking at the Insolvency Register that I saw that I'd been discharged!! I think they have bigger fish to fry than us so, please, please try to put it all to the back of your mind... and start to make the most of your 'fresh start'. Where there's a will, there's a way!:-) xx
