Purplepatch, it wounds you to the core. I had a similar thing not long ago with a buyer paying £23 for a book and then emailing to say she thought it very expensive. It was the lowest priced in its title. Like you I thought, did I ask you to buy the ********** book??? You know I think us girls (and boys) on this thread take our Amazon selling very seriously, are providing top service, we really care. So to get this kind of comment really hurts and makes us livid.

When I think of some of the stuff I have bought off third party on Amazon, I have never received an acknowledgment email (which I always do) and they send even expensive stuff second class (just to save 26p) fair enough for a low priced item - it makes me mad.

Hope you can get it removed.

  • Thank you so much for all the advice and support on here:beer: , particularly about heavy books and postage and describing items. I listed 120 items yesterday, about £25 net sales already. Anything that doesn't look like it will sell will go to car boot...It seems pointless to list things for 0.01p unless its easy to get to the post office (my only worry is that I will have problems posting things due to difficulty getting away from busy work between 9 and 5) but am I missing something about those low prices?

  • Hi cat, welcome to the thread, the 1p sales are Ok if the book is very light so you can make the money on the postage allowance, if it's a real hassle to get to the PO then you might not think that it was worth the bother for pennies but it is worth it for pounds

Oh wow - I never realised old books were worth so much !!!

I have listed a load more today. we are moving house and I am sorting out. In a pile of old books given to us by a relative I have found a 1920's Blackies Golden Deeds - istory book - apparently quite rare. It is not in great nick but put it on there for £35 to see how it does.

Also a 1st Edition Disc World Companion which has gone on for £9.00, some more law books at £13 and £17 and a book from the charity shop which cost me 30p has gone on for £11.

I have 24 listed books but I am worried about when the tax mn will come looking for me - any hints when this will kick in or any other advice ??

Just need to sell some now !! I am off to do some more sorting out !!

    T xx
  • Tashja - if they are your books so no tax problems at all

There are some very good prices for books on amazon but the thing is they aren't worth anything till they sell, they may still be up for sale in weeks, months or years so don't splash out on the caribbean holiday booking just yet.
I don't mind waiting for a sale, if you are in a hurry you might get a bit fed up with the inertia

Ok guys here is a dilemma for you. I have an old book which was printed in 1920 it is a book of verse by Walter de la mare called Peacock Pie. It's not listed anywhere so I went on bookfinder and it appears to be worth around £60. So where do I go now. Shall I post it on amazon as a collectable or do I put it on Ebay under antiquitarian stuff?? or is there anywhere else I could try it is a little damaged as the spine has come unstck but I have the spine and it is intact.
I look forward to your comments
    Thanks
  • Hi Annie, if it's not on the amazon database then you're stumped. Ebay would be good because you can show lots of photos and the buyer would be clear about the condition.
