I wish Amazon would speed up their vacation setting thingy. I just sold another book on ebay and now have 4 to remove from Amazon, but I can't remove them until my listings are live and that could happen at any time.

I'm terrified to go to bed and find the books get listed and by some miracle sold before I can remove them. I realise the chances are slim as two of the books have been on Amazon for months, but it would be just my luck...

  • Please someone help me!!! What are the books that sell on amazom?! I have a total of 26 items listed, only the books that I consider decent reads and in top condition , some cd's and text books. They have been on there for two weeks and there isn;t the slighest sniff on anything... I appreciate the Uni texts are listed in the wrong month, but cd's and fiction - are you all selling bang up to the minute books??? I am having more luck on ebay but earning less, what is the key?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you the lowest priced seller?

Apprentice tycoon has 500 books and aims to sell 10 a week if I remember it right.

I find the books that I expect to be a high price are not and the ones I have picked up cheaply sometimes give me a pleasant surprise.

  • Hi gingermonkey - I wish that there was a straightforward answer to your plea!
Two weeks isn't a very long time really, we have arrived at a rough guideline on here of for every 50 items for sale you can expect to sell about 1 per week, this was arrived at by a few of us comparing notes and it seems to be a fairly sound theory.
Don't worry, it'll happen soon now you've come on here for a whinge

Gingermonkey, you might find it useful to look through some of the earlier posts on this thread as well as there's lots of advice there about what sells. Not sure if you are selling 'popular fiction'? If so there's loads of it on Amazon and it tends to be low priced and not sell very quickly if at all. It can take ages to get started and there's no obvious pattern as far as I can see.

I've got quite a few CDs listed but only ever sold one so far... no videos at all gone and the books that have sold are not the ones I thought would go

Not sure that's much help but good luck, I guess its not a way to make quick money unless you list loads of very very desirable expensive books [whatever they are] and if you find out let us all know :rotfl:

    Best of luck

I only joined just over 2weeks ago but the books I have sold are:

    Michael Palin, Himilaya
    Social Games book (new)
    Rough Guide To Football (new)

I have also sold several DVDS, some which I never thought would sell as they were quite old. I sold a new PSP UMB within hours of listing it.

I have loads of my Grans old music videos listed and none of those have sold. I haven't bothered listing some of our books as there is too many on there eg Dan Brown books. These can go to a carboot or the charity shop.

I'd definitely go for 100 books for a fiver. I buy my books in mixed lots and expect to pay from £6 for a box of about 20-25 books. many I discard straight away, I don't bother with 1p novels for instance. The rest I list either on Amazon or ebay depending on where it looks to sell best. Some I risk listing on both. Novels could go on to Greenmetropolis as well but my sales there have been very poor.
