I don't really want to say I told you so....but these whinges always work within a day or two.
Oh okay then, whinge whinge whinge! :p I haven't sold anything in over a week and still don't have any feedback! AND we're moving in a few weeks, so I definitely want rid of all the junk, sorry, all the excellent high-quality books I'm selling! :rotfl:

One other thing that has just occured to me, by second hand do you mean 'old'? Amazon require books to be listed with them via an isbn number and not having an isbn could mean there are no listings. Soo

Actually that isnt correct there are thousands of books listed on Amazon that dont have ISBN's they bought the British Library database a couple of years ago and added many old books to their listings.

None of mine have ever come up with the correct publisher or binding though, and reading posts from earlier in the thread I thought that meant I couldn't list them by title alone?

If you mean second hand as in past 20 years or so then you should be OK with listing them.

I hope that makes sense? If not i'm sure one of the other more experienced Amazon sellers will help. I'm more of an ebay person really.

as far as i no they are post 1980's so hopefully i should be ok
thanks for the thought though hun ;)

When 72 hours have elapsed the sale isn't going to go through so you'll need to re-list it

I don't know if this is a tip or a lucky co-incidence - but think topical.

Macca on the news about separation - I sell a Wings CD

Marshall Mathers about re-divorcing Mrs Eminem - I sell my son's (with his permission) Eminem Cds and DVDs.

Phil Collins separating from his wife - I sold his biography.

I know we often discuss packaging secondhand/new and first/second class post issues on here.

Well I recently purchased off Amazon a second hand video which was going for £16.49. When it arrived after a few days it was in the most beaten up and reused jiffy you could imagine, stickers everywhere and crumpled etc. The seller also sent the parcel second class. Now I know Amazon would take their cut etc, but to me it seems mean for the sake of 26p not to send it first class. If the vid had been up to £6.00 say, I think second class is fair enough.

I was not bothered by the packaging as such as I am really into recycling. I will not however be mentioning either in feedback as I know what it is like to get a 4/5!!!

Just adding a buyer's perspective to the issue.:)

Personally, I would leave a 4 out of 5 if you were dissatisfied with the P+P.

The main complaint I have about feedback on Amazon is when people leave comments like 'Excellent service. Thanks' and then go on to leave 4 out of 5 (or less)! The other bugbear I have is when people leave poor feedback because of the price but are happy with the product. Surely they were aware of how much they were paying!

If you have a genuine reason to be less than satisfied, I think a 4 out of 5 rating is more than reasonable, so long as you actually state why you have given less than 5.

In any case, a 4 out of 5 doesn't affect the percentage rating as that is still classed as positive feedback under the Amazon system. It is only feedback of 3 or below that has an affect on your percentage. In other words you could have 10 4 out of 5 ratings and still be on 100%. Another seller could have 8 '5' ratings and 2 '3' ratings and they would only have 80% positive feedback.

The only affect that 4 ratings have is on the star rating, but that is barely noticeable IMO.

    Hope that makes sense! :o

Someone mentioned if you are a pro-merchant you can request they add the book to their database, sorry I can't remember the name or where in the thread it was.

but good news, I've sold one today - been a little dry recently, though that hasn't been too bad as I wouldn't have got to the post office easily!!

    Jo_b that makes sense :D
