selling your stuff on Amazon...part four...

I have sold about 8 books on Amazon since I discovered how easy it was, about a month ago. I have had quite reasonable prices IMO, in the region of £4 and £5. Postage has always been well more than they actually cost to post. Its not a bad shout all in all.
Get listing (also a pleasantly painless process!)

I only started to use Amazon on Monday. I've had four sales, made about £15. :beer:Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -

Just out of interest, what have you sold ( pm me if you like)
I have some new novels, checked them on amazon and there are people selling them for 1p. Ive listed a few things, but havent bothered in the category where they are 1p. Am I wrong to do this?
Lynz x:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I have sold quite alot of books for 1p. Amazon pays you about £1.41 after deductions and if it is a light book then it can cost about 62 p to post - profit of 79 pence.
I take the view that selling these cheaply can get me good feedback and return business of dearer books later."This site is addictive!"

I"ve just been checking that i've still got the 'lowest price' for my listed books.
One of my books has been undercut by a large company ( US Based). THey have listed multiple entries of the same book ( over 10 separate entries..i spose they have lots of copies). Are they allowed to do this???..doesn't it say somewhere that you only put in one listing for identical books???
It's just that i don't think i'm ever gonna get to the top of the listings list, and it seems doubtful that my listing will be seen at all, as it's now on page 3!!!
any tips, anyone!!
thanks0 -
I find that feedback is left so infrequently that I don't have the patience to chase it.
My view is that my books are in pretty good nick, and to price them at 1p would do them a disservice. When I get around to it I'll list them on ebay and get a decent price, but for now I don't go lower than 99p on Amazon. Sure, I might make a slight profit after postage is paid for (+20p for a jiffy bag, no Poundland near me) but the heavy textbooks I've been selling lately really eat into the sale price. (£7 postage, out of £22 originally due seller)
How does greenmetropolis work?My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Greenmetropolis works as
Sell: £3.75 per book, if it is not a normal sized book they allow you to enter additonal postage otherwise you get £3 of the original £3.75 of which you need to take the postage out.

I have about 30 listings on there and it took me about an hour. Even if you make less than ebay its better IMO as its so quick. If something doesn't sell then there are no fees. For me to have listed 30 items on ebay at 99p I would have paid £4.50 in listing fees alone! They would have been there for a maximum of 10 days and perhaps not sold therefore I would have spent alot of time for little or no effort. On ebay I would also have FVF and Paypal fees. With Amazon it tells you their exact fee before you submit the listing.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -
