I have sold about 8 books on Amazon since I discovered how easy it was, about a month ago. I have had quite reasonable prices IMO, in the region of £4 and £5. Postage has always been well more than they actually cost to post. Its not a bad shout all in all.

Get listing (also a pleasantly painless process!)

Ive listed a couple of old textbooks on there today. I dont think there are going to be any bites TBH. the rest of the stuff Ive got is going on greenmetropolis again, just gonna have to be patient I think.
Why not have it on both? I had my books on Green Metropoils but I copy and pasted them over to Amazon. If one sells then just delete it from the other site.
I only started to use Amazon on Monday. I've had four sales, made about £15.

Just out of interest, what have you sold ( pm me if you like)

I have some new novels, checked them on amazon and there are people selling them for 1p. Ive listed a few things, but havent bothered in the category where they are 1p. Am I wrong to do this?

I have sold quite alot of books for 1p. Amazon pays you about £1.41 after deductions and if it is a light book then it can cost about 62 p to post - profit of 79 pence.
I take the view that selling these cheaply can get me good feedback and return business of dearer books later.

I"ve just been checking that i've still got the 'lowest price' for my listed books.

One of my books has been undercut by a large company ( US Based). THey have listed multiple entries of the same book ( over 10 separate entries..i spose they have lots of copies). Are they allowed to do this???..doesn't it say somewhere that you only put in one listing for identical books???

It's just that i don't think i'm ever gonna get to the top of the listings list, and it seems doubtful that my listing will be seen at all, as it's now on page 3!!!

    any tips, anyone!!
    thanks

I find that feedback is left so infrequently that I don't have the patience to chase it.

My view is that my books are in pretty good nick, and to price them at 1p would do them a disservice. When I get around to it I'll list them on ebay and get a decent price, but for now I don't go lower than 99p on Amazon. Sure, I might make a slight profit after postage is paid for (+20p for a jiffy bag, no Poundland near me) but the heavy textbooks I've been selling lately really eat into the sale price. (£7 postage, out of £22 originally due seller :()

    How does greenmetropolis work?

    Greenmetropolis works as

Sell: £3.75 per book, if it is not a normal sized book they allow you to enter additonal postage otherwise you get £3 of the original £3.75 of which you need to take the postage out.

I've sold Green Mile and Sleepers which were used DVDs, Skeleton Key DVD which was a new unwanted competition prize (making nothing on ebay) and a Rough Guide to Football book which I ended unsold on ebay a few times.

I have about 30 listings on there and it took me about an hour. Even if you make less than ebay its better IMO as its so quick. If something doesn't sell then there are no fees. For me to have listed 30 items on ebay at 99p I would have paid £4.50 in listing fees alone! They would have been there for a maximum of 10 days and perhaps not sold therefore I would have spent alot of time for little or no effort. On ebay I would also have FVF and Paypal fees. With Amazon it tells you their exact fee before you submit the listing.

I suggest you close it and then list it at the same price they have it listed at.
