When the 60 days is up are you automatically prompted to relist your items and how is it done?
I haven't been doing this long (obviously!) but I initially listed loads of stuff and done quite well, better than I expected. I've gradually added more stuff so I now keep about 100 items available. The aim is to run out of things to sell!!! I've probably got another 100 or so items to put on before it comes to a natural end.
It's dead easy - you get an email saying that so and so book has come to the end of it's listing period (this is quite alarming when you originally listed say 20 or 30 book in one sitting because you get 20 or 30 emails from amazon saying that the're all up for relist in one go too.....) and you just go to your closed listing section of your sellers account page, click on each one and relist, it's a good idea to look at the competition at the same time and see if you need to adjust things.0 -
Thanks AT, I thought that would be the way it's done but I wanted to be prepared for what to expect. As you said, I'm gonna get a lotta emails!
I've currently got 97 things for sale and I've sold 40 so far since I started on
5th April, listing about 15 - 20 things at a time. I did 20 at first and then kept adding more in batches as I searched the shelves! I added another 9 things this morning and keep checking my inbox - somebody buy something please!
It's turned into a lucrative hobby :j0 -
I graduated from uni 20 years ago and have been selling my old text books on amazon this year. I have been very pleasantly surprised with the prices I have achieved, in some cases twice what I paid for them new. It seems that if the book is a specialist technical book that is in good condition, ideally still the latest edition and there are not many on sale second hand (ideally out of print as well) then you can get good prices. I posted my books for sale generally at the same price someone else was offering or, if none other for sale (and out of print but still the latest edition), then twice what I paid 20 years ago. Be prepared to send the book internationally to get the best prices - two of my books were bought in South Korea and one in Canada. If no-one bites after a few weeks you can always lower the price. I agree with the comment of the previous poster - going rates for very popular books are low e.g. 1p for paperback copy of Da Vinci Code.
The books should be checked for First Editions of classic works - these are collectable and may get good prices.0 -
Yeay, sold another book this morning! It's quite heavy though, so will only make a couple of quid out of it after p&p... but for a book that I got for free, it can't be bad!0

I've thought about setting up a rival web auction site that operates on a registration fee basis, then lets you post items for free, without any percentage of the sale being held back. Trying to think of a suitable name for it...something catchy that also takes into account the 'free' nature of it (well, free aside from the registration bit)
Initially thought about "FreeBay". Sure it's already taken though - and if not, I'm sure eBay would complain about it....0 -

A well, a quick Google of Freebay shows that it's already a popular name...Serves me right for thinking I had an original idea....0 -

I bought a mobile phone today with the intention to list it on eBay then it occured to me that I could put it on Amazon. The only problem with Amazon that I have no feedback, I only had my first sale a few days ago. Fingers crossed that I get some feedback very soon.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0

I dont think there are going to be any bites TBH. the rest of the stuff Ive got is going on greenmetropolis again, just gonna have to be patient I think. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
