Just tried to book a flight with them, it did not take the card.
I called Customers Support and they told me they only take a VISA ELECTRON if it has been issued from a bank or building society

What a bunch of thieves !!!!!

Why are they thieves? They're quite within their rights to only accept certain cards under certain conditions.

Have they stolen anything from you? Of course not. So less of the emotive language, please.

Sign up to Entropay - I did it this morning using my driving license as proof (this thread mentions passport) and in 10 mins had added £10 credit and paid for Ryanair flights without incurring any additional charges! :j

Hi did you have to select Visa Electron when entering your entropay details and how do you get your entropay card number?

You select Visa Electron, put Entropay user instead of your name and you would have been given your Entropay card number and expiry date when you sign up for Entropay.

The user having problems had been booking with Flybe though rather than Ryan Air so I've asked the team if someone can check it out with Travelex.

Cheers for that. Will hopefully save a few pound when going football trips to Europe this coming season.

Thank you sooo much for this tip - read it on the weekly e-mail - got a card from co-op travel shop today (loaded £100 and paid £3 charge) booked return flights for 5 people from derry to london in September for a grand total of £10! so despite the £3 charge, I have already saved £47 and still have £90 on my card. For anyone who is hesitating, it was really easy to get the card and very easy to use - the only drawback is all my friends & family will want me to book their flights now!!

When your comments says that the card needs a minimum top-up of £100 required, does this only need to be done on the first occasion or do you need to keep topping it up every month with £100?

    Many Thanks

Wouldn't surprise me if Ryanair introduced a clause that the card must be presented at the gate, actually.
