OH: well done on the job! How about a cheeky celebratory drink?
*I'm thinking-hey, maybe I'll get my FREE wine tonight*
Me: A lovely idea *we very rarely go out and even rarer to get a treat from him!*
OH: It will have to be your treat though, I'm skint.
    Me: Speechless *deflates shoulders*

Hi Rainy - your OH sounds like he needs to be tango-ed (the original version)! Really well done on the new job - really hoping that I get one soon too - lots of people getting jobs on here which is encouraging at least!

Good luck savingholmes on the job front. And rog2. Hopefully getting jobs is contagious on MSE. *sending all the positive vibes I can*

Well well, Wescot have accepted my £1 monthly payment for the BIG business overdraft debt, due to be reviewed in 3 months. Pleasantly surprised :T

Barclaycard/Mercers STILL not acknowledging any of my efforts of contact, STILL only writing in red ink

Still no word from the Solicitors about the Statutory Demand. Very worrying

    OH on list for a tango-ing! :p

Apparently he is taking me out this Saturday. I have visions of a "Oh no, I seem to have left my wallet at home..." scenario unfolding!

On my second toasted teacake :o elevenses has turned into a mini feasting session! Well, they were FREE and I will be walking to work everyday from 2 weeks today! Plenty left, help yourselves!

On to this weeks list. I'm aware that this is dull reading but very beneficial to me!

    1. Go to Post Office for Car Tax - usually do it online but for some reason it can't find my insurance

    2. Pics of Ebay stuff and get listing!!

    3. Make appointments for doctors, dentist and plumber for next week.

    4. Finish last bit of woodwork painting in Living Room

    5. Fill in final VAT Return and unregister for VAT (luckily I don't owe them much due to business being slow at the end!)

    6. Unregister as Self Employed - have actually been in touch but this is on here to remind me to double check that they've done it!

    7. Sort DEBT FOLDER into easy to use, sparkly colour coded, managable smaller folders. Beautifully categorised and a joy to behold, despite the contents!

If you're not on the bright side of life, at least polish the dull side! :rotfl:

I like your finishing line... I watched a dispatches programme on debt collectors - apparently it is quite common for them to threaten bankruptcy without following thro - but of course you never know which one means it.... hope it all works out in your favour!

    Afternoon!

Not too much to report, just a lot of tying up loose ends at current work before leaving for very welcome pastures new :D

Plus muchos Ebaying. I have another 18 parcels to get packaged up tonight! I'm thinking of starting a packing line. I'll wrap, OH can stuff and the cat can stick! Can't believe how much I have made this month, it has paid for my essentials plus left me with some for my all new DEBT POT.:T

    I've just had a play with EagerLearner's money saving/moneytracking spreadsheet http://befirst.to/save/money-saving-spreadsheet.php

Fantastic incentive for me seeing it all in colours and graphs and tables. With my current £1 payments, it would take me 531 years to clear my debts  :rotfl:

My new pro-rata payments with my new wage it will still take 31 years

BUT, having looked at my spending diary for this month, which was through the roof due to big payouts (with thanks again to Ebay) it still falls within my new monthly wages after tax, NI and student loan payouts, with money to spare. So tightening the belt a little further, not having big vet/car payouts PLUS my extra £10 a day/£10 Ebay a day income, I have worked out that with an extra £400 a month...it goes down to 10 years :T

Still a long time in many eyes I'm sure but I'm pleased with that for the amount of debt that I have. Plus the fact I'm confident I can get some more money towards the DEBT POT along the way :T

It's no mean feat earning an extra £400 per month I know, I am not being over optimistic. But I have something to aim for and I know with some effort I can get there. I have not included my working tax credits into the mix as I'm unsure whether I will still qualify with my new job but I will be asking the question!

    I feel a plan coming on...:p

Firstly - you can still do the car tax online without your insurance docs - they will check it all out for you if you have the renewal notice.

If you go to the PO to do it, you will have to produce your insurance docs there, so best do it online anyway!

Secondly, 10 years is not bad at all really, considering your starting point. Our debt was similarly huge (100k) and once you start adding in the extra £10 a day or so, it really does make big differences. Plus, you have the benefit of things being passed to debt collectors, so you can save up and make full and final offers to get rid of things quicker.

Well done on the ebaying - is is all going in the right direction!

  • Well done on your Ebaying, Rainy. It sounds like you are tackling this problem head on :money:
