Mary that is surely a weight off your mind. I had been keeping my fingers crossed for you

Well been off work for the last two days as been poorly. Started with high temp and no feeling in legs or back as those of you who read previous post will know. NHS direct said it could be flu or swine flu stay indoors, fluids etc and call back if any other symptoms or it gets worse. Monday my glands were swollen, my throat was sore it was like I was swallowing razor blades and my ears hurt, was told no appointments at doc, but to keep calling as they may have cancellation - made provisional appointment for Tues am. Rang them back and spoke to a real snotty receptionist (thinking back I wish I'd asked her name because I would have complained about her "Sympathetic attitude") When I asked if there were any appointments that day she said "not really, why what's the problem". I explained and said I couldn't swallow, it hurt to talk and breathing and swallowing at the same time just wasn't happening. She reluctantly made me an appointment for later that day - turned out I had a very bad case of tonsillitis so much so the doc told me to take a full days antibiotics in 2 doses rather than 4 so that it was in my system. She told me I would feel better by today, and having slept most of yesterday I do!

Anyway... I have got my Christmas cards written, DS and DD presents wrapped and back in the attic, the tree is ready to be decorated although I need to tidy up a little first but waiting for hubby to come home to do that. I have also done lots of ordering online, and have just ordered myself the pyjamas from La Senza and my sis can have the extra pair as an extra gift. I can't believe they are such a good deal.
I only have MIL and FIL to buy for now, still got quite a bit to wrap, but am well chuffed!
Thanks everyone for helping me be organised xx

    Hello all :j
    Well am I relieved ..................:j
After not hearing anything yesterday a letter came in the post this morning saying OH had appt. yesterday ?? I phoned up and told girl 'no point in telling us the day afterwards (seems someone should have told him last week when it was and didn't) I had small rant about needing appy. pretty damn quick......stress/worry/ etc. not to mention OH's possible conditon.
Bout 2 hours later consultant phoned(yes the white coat man himself -though don't seem to remember him wearing one)!! ''It's good news'' says he going on to say biopsy was clear and the area it was taken from had apparently shrunk !! So, he and his team of 'white coats' all agreed that at the moment no more is needed other than getting 2 weeks antibiotics from GP and him having another appt. and xrays in 2 weeks time as it could be that it was due to an adverse reaction to an infection OH had (pleurosy was mentioned-possibly bit of pneumonia) and further antibiotics would do the trick.
He wants to keep an eye on him so I can see a fair few trips back and forth to the hospital but what the heck................it's nothing like I thought.............:j
Thankyou for all your good wishes, positive thoughts and bless 'em............the card thread ladies wearing anything that had inside out.............well you never know...............lol:rotfl:stranger things happen

That's such good news Mary, I'm so pleased for you both! :j

foxy = glad you're feeling better. We're got a receptionist at our GP's who's a real *** ! Will never let you have repeat prescription without third degree likewise appt. Luckily the GP's are good and ours always tells us to ask for an emergency appt. if need be and someone will always see us.............and to let receptionist know that he's told us if she queries it.

Well, OH is in a state of disbelief at his news.........think its because he still doesn't feel quite as he should plus its a bit of a shock to the system to go through all that he went through and then that's it ! Bit like being sent round an obstacle course and being told afterwards that you needn't have. Still, his bloods been checked endless times.............biopsys and scans and xrays done so maybe when the news sinks in a bit more he'll feel better.....feels a bit 'numb' at the minute. He'll get over that when I tell him foster daughters just phoned and now she knows he's not going to be rushed off to hospital he'll be expected at hers for christmas dinner along with her sister and hubby, and her MIL and FIL..............sounds good to me..........
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

:jHi everyone, I love all the tips in these forums (particularly inspired by this thread and the hamper ones!), but tend to lurk in the background rather than posting!!! However..... I just had to post after reading through this thread tonight (not all of it, that would take a year at least!), everyone is so full of great ideas but also so supportive and friendly!:A Such a contrast to the miserys on the 'worst gifts' thread (bah humbug,,,ungrateful scrooges- though they did make me laugh!!!) So a huge thank you for all the fab tips and getting me well in the Christmas spirit!!!:T
