Nothing is going on, people just click on something without reading what is in front of them, it is amazing how when they find out what they have done it is someone else's fault.

I totally disagree that it's these "thick" people not reading things. It is misleading and it's prob amazon reps trying to patch things up
I totally disagree with the above statement.

Your partner is obviously not thorough enough.

I don't care what you post - you did opt in.

I posted this earlier this year:

This (imho) shows how good Amazon customer service is:

Saw my friend yesterday who was annoyed with herself because she'd (knowingly) taken a free Prime trial out when ordering some last minute Christmas stuff and had forgotten to cancel the free trial within the 30 days.

I told her it was refreshing that she acknowledged that it was her fault rather than Amazon's  and suggested she drop them an email explaining what she'd done (it was only a couple of days outside the deadline) and ask nicely if they'd consider refunding the £49 and cancelling the Prime subscription.

She did so this morning and rang me to say that Amazon rang within minutes of her sending the email to say they would cancel Prime for the year and refund the £49 back onto her credit card.

    How good is that? :T

So, she's going to treat me to coffee and cake next time we're out. :D

Oh dear where do we start!

I'm actually currently enjoying a months free trial of Prime. I cancelled it within 1 hour of joining, it was easy to do and obvious I'd subscribed for a free trial.

Funny how it seems to be clear for some people and not others!
  • Yeah, had a couple of free trials of Prime (which I definitely agreed to - I remember, as I had to select it).

Used it and cancelled before the 30 day deadline . . simple.

Yeah I'm on my second one as well. I recon they're offering everyone a new one now as it now has the instant video. I assume it's because of that, I haven't bothered trying to access it.

They have been giving people 1 a year for quite some time now.
  • I'm on my third prime 'trial' I must say that its been quite good, to be able o watch free VOD whilst i've been off work ill. I know enough to 'cancel' my trial or even choose the 'do not upgrade' choice before I get charged!

Fact one this WAS added without her knowledge, the shipping was not free and was not incl with AP.

Fact 2, amazon wont change it as it admits liability, if they were above board with so many complaints since 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!! They would...

Fact 3 IDC about you FW ( maybe the brighter ones of you will work it out ) !!!!

Don't be fooled but what these "people" say... Open your mind! Yada yada yada..

Have fun and Bye X :))) Have fun with it, we've got our liability letter and an extra £25 gift card (yep!)

    Amazon prime

Banks have been inundated with requests for the £49 or £79 refund from amazon.

My point is if so many people since at least 2009 have had this issue they should change it. I totally disagree that it's these "thick" people not reading things. It is misleading and it's prob amazon reps trying to patch things up

My partner ordered using a voucher and she is very thorough with anything online any she even had reg postage and still amazon prime took £79 without notification or being listed as a service.

It was near impossible to speak to a person but did email
    Back but admitted no liability.

I don't care what's posted we did not opt in for this service.

If they had that much an issue they would change it for benefit of customers, but I'm 100% sure they're are many cases where it was not the consumers fault.

Making it Very evident what the shipping options are along with any "conditions" would help but it was not even recorded as something we'd subscribed too at all.

Whilst I empathise with your experience, I'm afraid I must disagree with pretty much the entirety of your post.

It is NOT misleading. It is in fact, very clear, what to do when it comes to Amazon Prime. It simply requires that one is careful and reads everything...

I've had numerous 'trials' and not been charged a penny because I have made sure I have cancelled at the right time.

I think people need to take personal responsibility to be honest.

Happened to me also, I think I got it for £40, forgot to cancel before the trial ended.

Just went into my account and cancelled, as I did not use the Prime service during the billing period I was automatically refunded. Didn't have to call or anything.
