I'm so pleased I spotted this thread! I'd forgotten I'd registered for Amazon Prime (so much for money saving) but I've just managed to cancel my subscription.

    Pedantic.

So are you suggesting they never use a guaranteed delivery service? The large number of regular Prime users will disagree......

They used to use Special Delivery for smaller items and City Link for the larger items, but that changed late 2010, now with the exemption of ordering on the weekends for Monday delivery or last evening before the cut-off where it would normally come by courier, smallish items (books, cds, dvds, games) they would put it onto Royal Mail 1st Class.

Go on order something around mid-day, I bet it will come Royal Mail 1st.

We order daily from them for various items. Only once in around 2 years has it not arrived the next day. Having said that we order in bulk, not one CD so it would arrive next day.

I signed up for the 30 day trial. It seems a bit hit and miss though. One thing I ordered on Sunday and got it Monday morning which was very impressive. But I ordered something yesterday and it hasn't arrived even though it was due today and another item took over a week to arrive (yes, this was covered by Prime, not a marketplace item).

If it was reliable I would probably sign up because I buy almost everything from Amazon and it's nice to get it fast but I haven't been impressed with it so far.

And what I find is good is that HDNL no longer need a signature (for low-value goods) so no more having to hang around to wait for their van to come or risk having a "when you were out" slip

Just so I am clear here I am buying some earphones and I am being offered the free trial. I am more than happy to cancel and did the same thing with netflix but just so I know if I start the trial, order the headphones and then cancel my trial I will not be charged, correct? I was hearing off some people that its free unless you order something. They must be mad but then again I wanted to check. This is not that dissimilar to the netflix trial as mentioned before and they really could not make it any easier to cancel
