Magic thanks, does it still take 24 hours to activate?
Its free, just try it! Gotta to be better than just talking about it.
You will see it says 'prime' in the top left of the screen under the Amazon logo once it is active. I dont recall it taking 24 hours. It is an automatic subscription which means as soon as you log out and in again it will be active. Its not made active by anyone maually.0 -
Just so I am clear here I am buying some earphones and I am being offered the free trial. I am more than happy to cancel and did the same thing with netflix but just so I know if I start the trial, order the headphones and then cancel my trial I will not be charged, correct? I was hearing off some people that its free unless you order something. They must be mad but then again I wanted to check. This is not that dissimilar to the netflix trial as mentioned before and they really could not make it any easier to cancel
Hi,
One thing - you just need to make sure that the item you are ordering is eligible for Prime - cause not everything is ... I think normally it has a Prime logo next to it if it is ....

Amazon Prime is a scam. I was auto-enrolled in it back in 2009 and they have been taking $79 from my credit card account every year. I suppose I should have been more careful, but I thought that Amazon was reputable and never questioned the charges until this year. I feel duped. They are refunding this year's payment but I have paid hundreds of pounds out for nothing.0

Are you in the UK?
You mention US dollars, then say 'hundreds of pounds'.
I don't know how Amazon Prime works in the US, but if you're in the UK I doubt very much that you were 'auto-enrolled'.

How clear does it have to be?
You made a mistake by clicking on something that gave you a free trial but then you didn't cancel it within the free period.
I know it says 'be nice to newbies' but I have no sympathy when words like 'con', scam', 'rip-off' and 'duped' are bandied about when it's clearly your mistake.
I do, however, have sympathy for people who come on here and admit they have made a mistake and ask if they have any chance of getting their money back.
It is not a scam.
You were not duped.
Amazon are reputable.
Your fault - nobody else's.
I signed up for Amazon Prime as there was something that I needed delivered quickly.
I then cancelled it within the free trial period and it cost me £0.00.
And - don't you check your bank statements? :eek:0 -
Amazon Prime is a scam
So you, a responsible adult signed up for something 3 years ago and at that time you failed to read exactly what you were signing up to, and in the period since then you have failed to check your credit card statements for payments that you didn't recognise and you still think that Amazon are at fault?
Why not take a bit of responsibility for your own actions and inactions.0 -
It's not a scam or a rip off, looks like a troll to me.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I have grandchildren in USA and have bought three items from Amazon.com in the last three years. I somehow got scammed into paying $79 for Amazon Prime which works out at over £52 a year. I have subsequently found I also got tricked into paying £49 per year to Amazon.co.uk.
I never wanted this service, I did not give my consent for money to be taken from my account and I never received any notification that money was going to be taken from my account.
Amazon has paid back £100 of the charges but I am still £250 out of pocket. I am deeply disappointed that Amazon has stooped to this type of trickery.0 -

No scam, no tricks - it very clearly asks if you would like the free trial, and then tells you what happens after the trial period. Lesson is to read what you are signing up to.0
