I don't know how people can get so angry over this and think its a scam. I signed up to prime when they first offered it, I then forgot to cancel the free trial and had the charge (It was clearly explained I would recieve this charge if I didnt cancel). I didnt notice till I logged into the site again 3 months later but there was an easy to find section (and believe me, if I found it it has to be blindingly obvious lol) saying if I hadn't used the service I could have a refund, I clicked a button and got my money back.

no ranting, no chasing them down to get my money back, just a simple click of a button.

People get angry because there is no longer the issue of personal responsibility in life - someone is to blame.

When they find out something is amiss they cannot fathom that it could ever be their fault - a bit like those who cause a car accident and think that they can't have ever been responsible because they've been driving for xx years without incident.

Here, time and time again, we have people shouting the scam/thieves/!!!!!! tagline at Amazon for their own stupidity. Most of these people I imagine will be educated in good jobs, yet by their kneejerk reactions, show that they lack responsibility and common sense - you can be a rocket scientist but not know how to wire a 3 pin plug.

What we need here is for people to READ THE THREAD before posting their vents and finding that hundreds of us are facepalming ourselves in ridicule.

Fact is that if you still really think that Amazon scammed you then please please throw your computer/laptop away and ask your parents/children to accompany you to the shops.

    I agree, johnnyboyrebel.

They also lack the ability to read something that comes up on the screen in mutli-coloured, bold and capital lettered text and understand what the implications are of clicking on 'Yes please' instead of 'No thanks'.

  • Just like everyone else on here, I had no clue as to what Prime was. Found out it is a months free trial and then you get charged!! Thing is, I last used my Amazon account in March and they've only just charged me for it (30th August) now thats a long month aint it?!!. I simply gave them a ring and explained that i wasn't happy and they immediately sent me an e-mail confirming it was cancelled and confirmation that the £49 they kindly took from me would be returned within 3 working days. I did ephasise to them that they should have a link next to the 'free delivery' option (which you used to trigger the activation) that explains that you are signing up to pay them 50 quid a year. Hopefully if more people do this then they may make changes to the account!!! :)

The colours are not mine, this is how it actually appears on screen.

So Amazon already do have a link to the information that you will be charged £50 unless you cancel - in fact they make it very very clear.
