Amazon Prime Member Fee? Charged £48...

The concept of personal opinion is often missing in advice sites I've noticed.
Only Ebay forums are worse!
To do a cut 'n paste from an entire Amazon page complete with colour is perhaps going a but too far?
You had 'your personal opinion' and voiced it.
Other people had their own 'personal opinion' and actually proved you were wrong.
I was actually going to say I didn't think to cut and paste the relevant page was going too far as you obviously thought it was all hidden in the small print but vikingaero said it so much better than I ever could. :T
And it was 'complete with colour' because that's how the page actually looks, I've not changed any of the font colour.
Just goes to show that you have no clue about how obvious Amazon make this offer, doesn't it?
The really importnat bit is in red text - how clueless/stupid do you have to be to miss that?
Why not do a dummy order, get to the point where you try to click on the 'Free 1 day delivery trial offer' and see if you STILL think Amazon's offer is 'misleading'.0 -
Have taken advantage of this offer twice now. Both times I logged in to my account and made sure it wouldn't renew. It was clear the first time and even clearer the second time!0

Well, williham, that just shows that you are a sensible, savvy money-saver and don't fall into the categories below:vikingaero wrote: »(1) Lazy

Financial gain?
What? A company making profit?
Whatever next?0 -
I hold my hands up, am guilty of points 1, 2 and 3 above.
after seeing fee of £48 on my card, against Amazon was very confused as to why this should be , am not that generous when it comes to buying presents you see.
So with a quick google search I have found this discussion. and after a click in a box on the amazon website - I am awaiting a refund. Literally 1 click and they have offered me a refund.
Whats this? a company interested in making profit but also customer satisfaction???!0 -

How did you guys sign up to it without knowing? It's not hidden at all and is quite clear I would have thought?
If you have signed up to it unwittingly or not, I suggest keeping it. Unlimited next day delivery - as many purchases as you want for one yearly fee. Considering next day postage is probably about £5.00 with them then 10 purchases an it has paid for itself. As Amazon stocks everything under the sun then I made it my one stop shop. :beer:0 -

Just how much clearer do you need it to be?
What part of this statement below do people have difficulty understanding?
There's no obligation to continue beyond the trial period. You can cancel your membership through Your Account at any time during your Free Trial and you will not be charged the £49.00 annual fee
Basically, people just can't be arsed to read what's in front of them.
I'm not naive, I can see it's a FREE trial that will cost me money if I don't cancel it sometime during the trial period.
It's not exactly rocket science, is it?
Nor is it 'dubious marketing'.
It's NOT designed to mislead at all.
If people can't read and understand what they are signing up to, they shouldn't be let loose on a computer with credit/debit cards.
Amazon might 'know exactly what they are doing with deals like this offered at the point of sale' but the buyer should make sure he/she knows what they are doing too.
It's called personal accountability.
I can be sympathetic when someone has been genuinely scammed, but not when it's their own fault because they haven't read something that's right in front of their face.
You made me laugh with this post, thank you :rotfl: People's stupidity will never cease to amaze me0 -
Things have greatly improved since they switched back to using Royal Mail for Super Saver. I just hope they don't try and use someone else again now that the Super Saver limit has gone down to £5
Personally, I would never use Royal Mail for anything due to the terrible service and delivery times we have had in the past. Any Amazon goods I get delivered are always with TNT.
On any site I would always pay over the odds for a courier as oppose to SD with RM (It is SD I am referring to here, not special delivery)0 -

Looking at your posts then perhaps you work for Royal Mail? Thats fine if you wish to defend it but this is simply my opinion from past experiences with items never arriving only to be found lying around the sorting office weeks later, numerous items "lost in the post" etc.0
