Same happend to me got charged £49 only got a £45.08 refund stay clear of it!!!
You weren't FORCED to sign up for the free trial of Amazon Prime, you just didn't read what was in front of you before you clicked on it.
I didn't want Amazon Prime, even though I order quite a few things from them.
I'm happy to take the free delivery (especially now there is no minimum order level) - I've always managed to "stay clear of it".0 -

One can but live in hope that sooner or later all these people who say they are 'internet-savvy' yet think they have been ripped off, scammed, conned yada yada actually have a lightbulb moment and realise that in fact it was THEIR fault that this charge was levied.
At least max7 who originally said his wifeis a highly intelligent individual who just happened to order something on a site she's very rarely used (er, Amazon), in a tearing hurry.Must confess, looking at the screenshots it couldn't be much clearer
Actually, those people who ARE internet savvy and read T&Cs, don't order things in a tearing hurry and don't click on something without reading what they are signing up to don't actually need this advice:stay clear of it!!!0 -

Hi ... I think you will be living in hope a long time if you think people will admit they are wrong - most don't

I think people should be more careful before naming and shaming a company as a scammer or rip off.
Amazon have worked very hard to build up what I think is a great reputation, one of the best if not the best.
I know if it was my company and I gave a free trial, (this cost Amazon money) to demonstrate benefits of using the service, I would hope for a bit more appreciation.
But I know you can't please all of the people all of the time.
From reading this thread its obvious that the people calling this a scam are one card short of a full pack and I do hope I never have to provide a service to these people.
They think nothing about ruining a great companies reputaion because they are unwilling/unable to admit to thier own lack of diligence.
Amazon:
For: Great service - Very reliable - fantastic returns policy - Next day delivery.
Against: Unable to penetrate the thickest of brains.0 -
i just wanted to let you know my experience in relation to this, i dont really shop online, but i wanted this one book and i miss under stood the offer of free next day delivery, so as you can imagine i was horrified to see the £49 coming from my account. However, i called them and spoke to a lovely guy on the phone, he apologised and my money is now back with me.
error on both parts, mine because i didnt read everything and amazon's info maybe wasnt clear enough.
either way, this is far from a scam.
Thanks:T0 -
Hi and welcome
Well done for admitting that this was your fault, take a look at this screenshot (originally provided by custardy):
You can clearly see that there's a button to click to "learn more" and if you click on that it tells you that it's free for one month and as long as you cancel it anytime during the free trial you won't be charged for it.
I can't really see how Amazon can be any clearer than that.
Failure to read details by a buyer isn't really the problem of the supplier.0 -
I saw the £49.00 from Amazon come out of my bank account today. I paniked at first, and wrongly contacted the bank who have cancelled my card.
I contacted Amazon by telephone, and as previousely mentioned, as I did not use there one day delivery service, they will refund the money to me in 2-3 working days.
As moneysavers we must be more careful with free offers, etc..Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -

Would be, if true. I signed up for Amazon Prime, and have used it a bit. In the last three weeks, it has failed miserably TWICE.
A large TV was due on a Friday, and failed to arrive. I asked for delivery the following Tuesday, and it arrived on Monday (I had a hospital appointment and it was lucky I was there).
I had another item due yesterday, on One Day Delivery. Still not delivered (it's by Royal Mail so too late now for today). I contacted Amazon and they refused even to investigate it for another WEEK.0
