I can't understand why you'd think that? Just because it's only 5 pages (10 actually, but who's counting) on MSE, does not mean that that's all the people that have fallen for this. Only a tiny percentage of people that sign up "without reading what they're signing up for" would post on this site...especially bearing in mind the torrent of abuse that generally follows each posting (from fools like DaveAshton) ;)

We're all entitled to our own opinions. FWIW, mine is this: My dear lady is a highly intelligent individual who just happened to order something on a site she's very rarely used (er, Amazon), in a tearing hurry. Why on earth does that warrant such nasty, offensive and downright immature posts from some of the folks on this forum??

only 10 pages on noob settings;)
i think the opposite is true(and im sure most will agree) that people are more likely to post negative than positive reviews
you so far have posted on Amazon and Honda
    neither are praise

I'd love to agree with you, if I could understand what you're trying to say. Is English your first language?

Ironic you're saying I didn't read something when your wife didn't read the small (or rather, quite large) print of a promotional offer.
I've found my first ignore, hurrah!!:p

max7, could I suggest that you will get much more constructive help if you are not rude to everyone that disagrees with you?
    Gone ... or have I?

But he's not looking for help.

He popped into this thread to call people rude, and then stayed to question peoples mental ages and english abilities.

Which is perfectly reasonable behaviour, duh. ;)
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine
:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:
I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

Funny thing is, by the time I'd posted on here I had already found the help I needed - it was provided by the original poster of this thread. It went like this:

    1) I spotted the unexpected Amazon transaction on our bank account (along with the very helpful phone number provided)
    2) I Googled the phone number
    3) This thread popped up.

TurkishDelight, the following may shock and amaze you...I did not post on here to question peoples mental ages and english abilities. However, part of my original post questioned why some people on this forum feel the need to insult, berate and mock new users.

I've used MSE for years but only started posting recently when, on another thread, someone was effectively being bullied online. I supported that individual because
    a) we were in a similar situation with our car
    b) I felt damn sorry for them and
    c) Eventually, I was able to pass on information to them that got their car problem completely resolved.

Isn't that what these forums are for? Helping others??

I'll repeat that, because I know some people may find it shocking : these forums are supposed to be by the public, for the public. Helping behaviour, not bullying.

You supposed experts (high posters at any rate) should be setting a good example, but instead you gather like wolves around the kill. You accuse me of accusing you of being rude, yet you prove my case with every single reply you give!

    FWIW, I haven't:

Called the Amazon prime product a scam
Nor implied that it is some kind of huge problem
    Disagreed with anyone
Been rude to anyone (that wasn't damn rude to me first)

All of the above has, however, been said in posts responding to mine. Essentially, I didn't come here for a fight - you brought the fight to me.

    TTFN.

PS. custardy - would you like to contact Amazon for yourself and ask if a Mrs Maria Harris had a refund yesterday? I can pm you my wife's email address if you like (Amazon use this as an account reference), though forgive me if I stop short of supplying you with passwords and bank account details.;)

My dear lady unwittingly signed up for this. I saw the £49 entry on our bank statement and asked her if she knew what it was. She didn't have a clue! Long story short, she'd signed up to the free trail without reading the whole t&c's....needless to say, Amazon were very good about the refund and the missus is gonna be more careful what she's ticks next time!

I've looked back through this thread with interest. There's all the usual pious, "never fallen for anything like this" regular posters that I've seen on a previous MSE thread that I posted on.

I'm amazed at this site - it's supposed to be a forum where people help other people, whereas it's actually a site full of "know it alls" who take great pleasure in berating others!! Yes, people should read the t&c's. Yes they should be aware of exactly what they're signing up for...but clearly, they do not and are not. The very fact that so many people unwittingly sign up for this scheme is proof that Amazon are not making it obvious to people what they are signing up to.

Like it or not, that's that.

I think those "pious" people you're talking about take exception to people ranting about how they've been scammed, ripped-off or conned - when in reality, they've just not bothered to read the T&Cs.

I think if someone comes on and says "Whoops, I've slipped up and signed up for Amazon Prime, it was my fault for not reading the T&Cs, but can anybody give me some advice about how to get a refund" - they'll get a totally different (helpful) response.

The person was not being bullied as you put it, if you read the thread they initially got perfectly reasonable answers but like yourself did not like the answers they got so resorted to insulting and calling people names until people got fed up with them.

Then you chipped in with what now appears to be your style and also resorted to name calling and insults just because you had found out there had been a recall way after the thread was started.
