Would you believe even my own son got caught out by ticking the free delivery option for a xmas order and failed to read the T&Cs. I almost fell off my chair laughing when he opened his bank statement to discover they'd charged him £49 :rotfl:
Not sure who he was more annoyed at, himself for being so stupid or me for laughing at him
He logged into his account to request a refund and low & behold, Amazon have even provided a simple "click here" button to activate a refund!! How much more do they have to do to make it easy for people!! :T“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
My dear lady unwittingly signed up for this. I saw the £49 entry on our bank statement and asked her if she knew what it was. She didn't have a clue! Long story short, she'd signed up to the free trail without reading the whole t&c's....needless to say, Amazon were very good about the refund and the missus is gonna be more careful what she's ticks next time!
I've looked back through this thread with interest. There's all the usual pious, "never fallen for anything like this" regular posters that I've seen on a previous MSE thread that I posted on.
I'm amazed at this site - it's supposed to be a forum where people help other people, whereas it's actually a site full of "know it alls" who take great pleasure in berating others!! Yes, people should read the t&c's. Yes they should be aware of exactly what they're signing up for...but clearly, they do not and are not. The very fact that so many people unwittingly sign up for this scheme is proof that Amazon are not making it obvious to people what they are signing up to.
Like it or not, that's that.0 -
Like it or not, that's that.
People offered trial vs people who took trial minus people who realised it was a trial.
Equals a few people statistically who couldn't be bothered to read what they were signing up for.
Amazon are one of the world's biggest online retailers, so calling this a scam because of one thread that is under 200 posts, not all of them saying they have no idea about the charge is pretty hillarious.
ETA: Just realised the date- under 200 posts in 2YEARS! Seriously, that's a tiny amount of people. This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.0 -

Can you let us all have your Amazon usernames (or whatever). As you can't read official Amazon small print, you're probably also unable to read the seller's descriptions of items you're buying, and as such are likely to complain when your book turns up slightly creased, your DVD's not sealed or your flatpack furniture requires assembly.Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

All I'm saying is this; the very fact that this thread just keeps going and going is proof that people keep doing what my wife did. That is really, really hilarious isn't it.:silenced: Martin Lewis must cringe when he reads the drivvle that some of his regulars are posting on this site!0 -
DaveAshton, face to face you may be a perfectly nice human being. On the web, you give the impression of having a mental age of 5. You've not actually even read my post have you? Pathetic.0

PMSL....you called it a scam, not me!!! I called it a scheme, that my wife signed up for because she didn't read the terms and conditions properly. I also said that Amazon have agreed to a refund without any quibble. What precisely is your problem with any of that?

not really,in what 18 months,it has hit 5 pages,188 posts of which i posted 25 of them
a lot of that from people who used the prime trial without issue (or hand holding through the process)
how many fractions of a % of amazons sales do you think that is in that period?0 -

We're all entitled to our own opinions. FWIW, mine is this: My dear lady is a highly intelligent individual who just happened to order something on a site she's very rarely used (er, Amazon), in a tearing hurry. Why on earth does that warrant such nasty, offensive and downright immature posts from some of the folks on this forum??0 -
