Is there any reason why you want to swap browsers?

Please don't use Toolbars, of any ilk.

The good thing about Browsers is that you can install as many as you like and use them all at the same time, if you so wish.

So, install away and try them out.

    My favourite? Opera.

It's the fastest and easiest for everyday use by far. Sending an email from a link in a webpage or wishing to send info or a link from a webpage? Email client is open within a second. Try that with Internet Explorer.

Firefox is somewhere in the middle.

I agree with Donnie on the toolbar issue - don't bother.

However, my preferred browser is Firefox. The latest version 3.5 is designed to rival IE8, and there is no problem running it in a MS environment.
Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!

it's a largely horses for courses thing .
Any browser will work . Personally I like the fuction's in the google tool bar, things like autofill and the search site buttons are useful , There again it's down to taste , also I love opera and chrome

I would go for Firefox, and then use some of the addons available. NoScript and AdBlockPlus stop any attempts to hijack the browser and install anything malicious, and can block annoying adverts. I also like autopager, which on forums and the like loads all the pages of a thread and displays them one below another, so the thread goes on and on, and you never have to wait for the next page to load. Brilliant. Also, IE Tab allows you to render the page using the IE engine if needs be.
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.

I agree with Tim and Donnie (Not Taffy though ~ I in no way think of firefox as a rival to IE8 :p)
Use Firefox with the NOSCRIPT plugin to prevent webpage scripts from infecting your computer
And toolbars are next to useless generally speaking (Though I do personally use googles) and only serve to slow the computer down

^ totally agree. Firefox with Noscript is bombproof. I rarely use IE, haven't used it for many years.

Personally, I use the IE8 + Vista combination for the overall security and also it's more convenient to use it over on MSDN/Technet (which is where I spend a lot of my time), but I do use Firefox on Linux.

None of them cost anything, so try them all out and find out which you find more comfortable using, rather than taking everyone's words as gospel.

Your trying to say IE8 by itself is SAFER than Firefox with noscript??
