    I'm looking in Dundee QB.

Here are some examples of possibles:

    3 bed semi http://www.tspc.co.uk/details.asp?id=96089 108k
3 bed semi http://www.tspc.co.uk/details.asp?id=96124 newer but main road 105k
3 bed semi http://www.tspc.co.uk/details.asp?id=98211 113800 sameareaasoneabove but off main road
3 bed semi http://www.tspc.co.uk/details.asp?id=98055 120k same area again but huge corner plot

3 bed semi http://www.tspc.co.uk/details.asp?id=97461 125k same street but bigger inside and out

You can get lower priced houses too but tend to be on council estates. All the houses here have decent schools linked to them, are in streets of similar styles of property and prices and generally just typical family houses.

We are very very lucky in that respect. Salary multiple required is under 2.5 times joint, I am totally obsessed with being able to 'cope' on one wage.

Yep. That's realistic, and do-able without too much stress. For comparison, buying my [very modest] current house right now would equate to approximately 12x the salary I was on at the time I was made redundant 18 months ago.:eek::eek:

I had been working flat out for twenty years by the time this happened, and had therefore been able to trade up from my flat before prices went mad... I do not envy people trying to sort out a first time purchase, and juggling with a student loan etc. That said however, I wouldn't much mind being 20 years younger again!

HEHE Iknow what you mean. I live near the sea, in a 2 bed flat. The 3 bed houses i linked would be a 'trade up' size wise but not alot price wise. Especially not if we went for the 108k one. I am currently swaying towards the 120k corner plot one but its about 1.5 miles from the school we wanted.

It's a local holiday here today so I have no idea if solicitors are even open.

  • The corner plot one looks great - I love space and I'd love to have a bigger garden. I guess you could always tell yourself that a 1.5 mile trek to the school would save you time in the gym...

dum de dum. Nowt doing here, half term and my MIL has taken my kids away until 4pm. :)

Still no word from solicitor which is a bit annoying. It was a local holiday yesterday and its only midday so lots of time but I have no patience.
