I wouldnt consider a carefully thought out movie hamper a nic nac - its a very generous gift where a lot of thought has been put into it.

Remember she probably classes nic nacs as all those really unuseful gifts that everyone gets each year and never uses.

Just because people make suggestions as to what they want - doesnt mean they will get it.

Ive been asking santa for a 6 bedroomed mansion with a swimming pool for the last 10 years, he must still be building it as i havent recieved it yet. And i've been really realy good as well.

I did some cross stich today for my sons space hamper, its a little spaceman & rocket about 4 inches square - i'm gonna put in in a little picture frame. I was quite impressed especially as it was my 1st attempt.

Now if i could find an In the night garden kit or pattern i would be well away.

Hi just wondering where you got your spaceman & rocket cross stitch from? i have never tried this before is it fairly easy to learn?

    thanks,

Cross stitch can be as easy or hard as you make it and REALLY addictive. The basic kits are pretty self explantory and simple to do but there are some designs out there which i think you need a phd in sewing to understand :D

They sell a lot of cross stitch kits on ebay - I've never bought one for here so I can't comment on the quality of them but they also sell them in places like Argos / Tesco - but these can be really expensive.

Edit: I've looked for Rocket cross stitch kits on ebay and can't find none sorry

If you're taking up cross stitch for the first time, I'd recommend treating yourself to one of the cross stitch magazines (Cross Stitch Crazy, or World of Cross Stitch are both good) as these always have a page near the back of them explaining how to do the stitching, and always include many free patterns. There's often a small, simple kit as a free cover gift too.

The magazines have a good website as well : http://www.cross-stitching.com/ which has a section on 'how to get started' as well as lots of free patterns to download (sadly no space rockets though) and a forum.

And yes, it is TOTALLY addictive :)
  • well done on ur win princesswoo
i have also recently won a dvd (as per sig) from entering a comp on the competitions board

1/ took dd to docs today for her exzema (sp?) my doctor wasnt there, but the locum was a dermatoligist, who gave her a full skin check and has prescribed something a lot stronger, so it should be longer between her flaring up and less sore for her!!
2/we received a cheque in the post for £160 which was from the sale of an old fishing reel at auction. its taken 6weeks and i was beginning to think we were being ripped off!
3/ dh rang earlier and said he was just booking his holidays in at work so why dont i book for ur to go to euro disney in april! very excited by that! the kids will be 2 and 3 so i think theyll love it! its all booked! woohoo!

    HI All

    Quick update

Had a small bleed on Wednesday night, rang birthing centre who couldn't see me until Friday, the bleeding stopped Wednesday night, started again Thursday afternoon but wasn't a major bleed just a slight bit and with no pain at all.

Anyway went this morning for a scan expecting to see an 11 week pregnancy, first ultrasound showed nothing but an empty uterus and my face was exactly >>>:eek::eek::eek::eek: so was partners and trying to hide my face form my 5 year old. The midwife said to do a vaginal scan so little one and boyfriend waited outside. Was on verge of tears at this point.

Baby was found a few seconds later, safe and well. Although must be only newly pregnant because instead of the 11 weeks I thought I was and last period date went from - I must of caught just before my next period was due and I am in fact 5-6 weeks. They examined baby and took measurements - baby is 6mm and the heart is nice and clear and beating strongly. (which makes me 6 weeks I think)

They saw the yolk and saw another cluster in the uterus with the baby which measures 5.4mm, had its own blood supply and seemed to be developing  but they couldn't detect a heartbeat but they have called me back in another 2 weeks as they said it might just be it is developing slightly slower than the other one or it was very weak that it couldnt be detected as they couldn't get a clear picture to see what it was exactly. So you'll all have to watch this space for now.

I have to go back on the 28th August for another check up scan and they are going to look at the second cluster to see if it is an embryo as it was deemed 'too early' to tell.
    Time to find me again

sammy - don't worry too much (though I know its easy for me to say). Not long till your next check up -take it easy till then

queenb - know what you mean - been a bit of a weird year for me but I've got a lot of stuff done -or should I say 'half done'...........:rotfl: There are times 'life' has a habit of getting in the way of what we want to do.
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
