Hi just wondering where you got your spaceman & rocket cross stitch from? i have never tried this before is it fairly easy to learn?
thanks,
I got it from my local craft shop - it looked like very old stock, I could pop you the pattern in the post if you pm me your addy - i dont need it anymore, there is some spare thread left to notenough to do another but you'd need to buy the cross stitch fabric for it as well.
It took me about 3 hours to do and i havent done any sewing since i was a primary school some ahem,......17 years ago (ouch that makes me feel really old)
sammy-kaye-18: i have everything crossed for you and sending you loads of sticky baby glue. I know exactly what your going through.
UPDATE ON XMAS:
Went to B&M and spent £100 today:eek:
But i did get a star wars darth vader themed TV/DVD combi for my son which has a light saber for a remote control for £59.99, also got a matching Darth Vader radio/CD player for £12.99.
He hasnt shut up about it for the last week , saying i must be really super massively good if santa is gonna get me one of those TV's cos there just like really expensive and that means i have to be on my best behaviour. and it seems to have worked he's been a star all week. Not sure if he can keep it up till xmas though.
Picked up loads of Ben 10 bits, like socks 69p a pair, Boxers, £2.99 for 2 pairs, Vests £2.99 for a 3 pack, some other BEN 10 nic naks to go in DS space / alien themed hamper.
Then i got DD loads of wooden in the night garden toys to go in her hamper, they had a huge selection and the prices were very good compared to everywhere else i had seen them. I had to limit myself and not by them all though.
Then when i got home with the TV my mum said she would give me the money for it as DS christmas present from her, result.:T:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T

just found this thread and it is great. Our Christmas shopping is almost done.
The kids have been asking for a PC for months for their room. Last week I was walking past a skip on our street and there was a PC in there, only about 6 years old (it had a Windows XP licence sticker on it), so I knocked on the door of the house where the skip was outside and asked them about it. The guy said it woulodn't turn on so he was throwing it, but said I could have it if I wanted and he had only put it in that morning so it had not got wet.
Got it home and the only problem was the power supply unit, got one off ebay for £5. It's a great PC, not top of the range now but good enough for the kids to use for the internet and playing games/doing their homework (2Ghz CPU, 512Mb RAM, 80GB Hard Drive, 256Mb Graphics card and WiFi enabled.)
My wife has been spendiong about £4 a week for the past 3 months on bits for the kids hampers, loads of colouring books, maths/science/english books, colouring pencils, felts, crayons, pencils, pens, anything really she can get from PoundWorld/Poundland.
I'm glad it's all done now, my wife lost her job recently and it would have been a struggle otherwise, but finding the PC was a real bonus. I know it's second hand, and was actually retrieved from a skip, but at least it's not going on landfill, and our kids will love it. They won't even realise it's 2nd Hand.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Well done on your find. Doesnt matter where it came from or how much it cost.
When we are having a clearout anything that we dont need or havent got storage for but we think might be fixeable or usable by someone else, we leave it outside with a sign on saying free to good home needs repair. Unless its really badly damaged then it goes for firewood or to the tip.
We have got rid of loads of stuff this way, we even helped carpet someones house, when we had our carpets fitted there was loads left over, we didnt need it so we put it outside and within minutes someone had snapped it up. Granted they had to piece it in in a few places but, at least they finally had a carpet down of some sort instead of a concrete floor. And i'm sure her small child didnt care where it came from.
My DS's grandad is a skip raider, he wont spent money in fact he point blank refuses to spend money on anything if he needs something he heads for the skips and has a rumage, its amazing what he finds, hence why he's loaded and why were not, lol. They do say though where there's muck there's brass. Even if he doesnt need anything if he see's someone filling a skip he's straight in there to see what he can find.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T

Hope this helps someone

Hi everyone,
I'm new here, to this post and the forum in general
I have made a beeline for the Christmas posts. I LOVE Christmas but would also like to save money and get some good bargains this year. Every year Christmas seems to get more expensive, and with more children to buy for as people keep breeding
My son turns 2 at the end of November, so that adds lots of expense to the end of the year too, so any money saving ideas would be great!
I had a lovely surprise recently. I had an email from Tesco to say their records showed I hadn't used some of my very old clubcard vouchers and that if I had lost them, to give them a ring and they'd re-issue them. The vouchers arrived last week - £69 worth!!! So I'm going to use them on the double up deals for toys and get lots of free Christmas presents, I was so excited!
Looking forward to chatting with you all,
Nicky xMaking money for Christmas 2012!0 -

I think it's a great, without the find my kids wouldn't be getting what they really wanted. I'm just hoping to find a computer desk and chairs on Freecycle now.
I think it's appaling that this stuff is just thrown into landfill. I also don't understand the concept taken on board at the local tips all around the country. I've often been to them and seen something and thought,I could really use that, even if I had to fix it I'm pretty handy when it comes to that having come from an engineering/diy/building trade background. But for some unknown reason you are not allowed to remove items from the tip, they would rather it go to landfill?
Well, here's hoping for another find or 2 before the year is out.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.
