Mums are cheeky - she's gonna be thinking / wondering if her present is as nice now, lol.

My mum keeps eyeing up my stash, she's almost seen some of her presents on a few occasions, but i've managed to distract her in the nick of time. My mum has said that if she needs to buy any presnts she's just gonna give me the money and send me out to get somethng as im so much better at tit than she is, she usually just gives a voucher.

My amazon books got delivered today to - the one's that were £1.49 each and i'm well impressed with them. Especially the baby ones that make noises when you press the buttons.
:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!

  • princeswoo pic N mix is a good idea, hadn't thought of that, may replace choc bars with that instead! :j

mary-op I am very strict with myself as I try to focus more on the family experience of it all and make it a time for us all to enjoy each other's company. I only buy for neices and nephews, the only adults I buy for are my mum and nanna, all my family do this and it works well. I busget £10 max for each person, and £100 for my son. My partner buys for the two older sons. OP is nothing life threatening, a 'lady problem' :embarasse that needs sorting, after which I'm not even allowed to lift the kettle for a good while. I don't know what I will do with myself! :rotfl:

sammiboo that coffee hamper looks lovely :)
It is only a bargain if you need it!

Just to let all those who are making drawing hampers that Tescos are selling loads of stuff cheap. I got a nice sketching pad for 1.60, watercolour paints 3.60, 16 paint brushes 1.20, watercolour pencils 2.00 & a set with some pencils, charcoal, rubber & a squidgy rubber for 2.40. Not sure if these are good prices but they look expensive and nice and my niece will love them.

Kay - glad the op's nothing too major. Not lifting a kettle ? Oh lor, that would be a nightmare for me........unless you got OH to make a whole flask for you in advance............:rotfl:
I try and keep to £10 for each person (though do pop a cheque or bit extra for my two sons and grandkids) Everyone else gets a shoe box covered with paper and filled with bits of nonsense - well some are useful, most are fun. I think it'd be so boring if everyone just had a cheque through the post every year. My teenage grandkids are spoilt rotten by their mum and her new partner, my son can't afford it, especially with new partner and baby grandson. They always tell me 'Nan, don't worry, we've got everything'........so they get they're box of 'fun' and they love it. It's the only pressie they get where they've not a clue whats inside. I;m sure they think I've lost the plot with some of the concoctions I give them but long as they have a laugh then its ok by me.
We don't normally see them over christmas as they live away so we pop down and do the 'santa run' as we call it then have christmas to ourselves apart from foster daughter who normally pops round with her husband..........they get a box of 'fun' as well.....:rotfl:

  • mary-op heres what i have in the drawing hamper it is for a 12 year old boy so ur son (i think u said he was grown up?) probaly wouldnt apprieciate the book inthere but the works had loads of adult art books very cheap.
i will get around to putting a pic up at some point. i have a picturetrail account but i think i have to upload to photobucket? can any1 clarify this for me?

i have been shopping today and got all the bits for my nephews drawing hamper and was happy because it came to £20 and i thought it would be more (and the rrp was).

    i got from the works
    a field sketch book
    a4 sketch book
    tin of charcoals
    box of pastels
tin of drawing pencils (differnt sizes)
how to draw amazing things book (which i flicked through and its pretty good!)
then i got a box that was prefilled with
    -8x12ml watercolour paints
    -a5 watercolour pad
    -4 paintbrushes
    -3 pecils
    -paint palette
    -pencil sharpener
    -putty eraser
    -water dispenser
unfortunatley the box isnt big enough to use as a hamper but it will be somewhere for him to keep his sketch pads

then from wilkinsons i got a wooden mannequin and a box to put it all in! and i will add teh tin of watercolour pencils i already have in my craft cupboard
    so thats him finished

i also got my stepdad a shirt from burtons reduced to a fiver from £25, a set with a tie and matching cufflinks from clintons from £7.99 to £1.99 and added to the slippers i already have for him thats his birthday done!

got my brother his underpants and socks (he asks for them every year lol) and with the gift set and sprout book (in joke!) he's done aswell.

i got my mum a set of 3 hat boxes that fit inside eathother and im filling them up for her birthday and going to present them stacked up and wrapped in cellophane. so far the bottom box has a dressing gownn from next £3 in sale! woohoo! 2nd box has some pjs and slippers from tescos but matching. and im thinking of maybe adding a bundle of stuff from lush in the smaller box!
  • i now have an idea on a present for my young nephew. he came to my house yesterday and attacked the books, brought a winnie the pooh one and sat on my knee.
he announced 'pooh' which was a big achievment (i was very proud!) he kept the book close to him all day. they have just got sky and sil said he is obsessed with the disney channel, his favourite r tigger and mickey mouse so i can look at this kind of stuff for him!

i asked my nanna what she wanted for xmas and she said 'a cardigan in a nice bright colour, maybe a pink or blue' i said 'ill get u a blue one because i like your eyes when u wear blue (they reflect the colour and shine really bright)' so she said 'i've got 2 blue ones i dont need anymore!' she looked quite disguisted at the fact i wanted to get her a blue one, even tho she suggested it!!!
    pink it is then lol
sil and i laughed quite a lot at that one.
  • just remembered anyone who is doing movie hampers, morrisons have a lot of dvds very cheap atm, from £2 some good titles too. the triple dvd sets were £4 the same ones in argos are £15 bogof (so still £7.50 each)

i wasnt happy as i had only taken my shopping money and left my bank card at home, or i could have got my dvds for the hampers!! hopefully they'll still have them next wednesday
