My mum has just started patchwork quilting and she really loves it. Now, I would love to make her a patchwork themed hamper, but I don't have the first clue of what to put in it.
Was just wondering if there might be people on here that know a thing or two about patchwork quilting?
Has she already got a rotary cutter?
I made up a quilting hamper a couple of years ago...buying all the fabric from jumble sales.
I visited two sales and got enough to fill a wicker basketso was really pleased.
I brought lots of flowery print blouses/skirts/dresses and then went for plain velvets/cords/checks to give two lots of patchwork ideas.
I cut them all into squares and bundled the diffferent fabrics up with garden twine and arranged them in a wicker basket (also brought from a jumble sale)
I only paid 20p an item (the going rate at jumbles around here).0 -
Hi everyone!
I got more bargains yesterday - I went to a shopping park with Mum and I didnt spend a penny but Mum, bless her, helped me out
I finally discovered the miracle that is B&M - we dont have them in Leicestershire - oh my god it is just as amazing as you lot say on here!!! I got bro's and BIL's Xmas pressies - an Adidas set each - for £2.99 each, I was quite prepared to pay £5 for them  Mum also got my OH some warm walking socks and a Dr Who game for my nephew, plus a Transformers bubble bath for same nephew. This lot, together with some soap (for Mum!) a funky bottle box for Mum to put SIL's pressie in, and a shopping bag with a pic of Brooklyn Bridge on for Dad - all came to just over £20! Bargainous!! I also picked up a tin of Twinings English Breakfast Tea worth £8 for OH - for £3 in TK Maxx (plus a 34p strainer for it in Asda) :rotfl:
I've now only got a few pressies left to buy - cant believe Im being so organised!!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
Such a busy day, but I still managed to pick up a lip gloss, eye shadow and a pack of mattyfying (sp?) pads for my sister (have now decided to add a filled makeup bag to her list of presents! The lipgloss and eyeshadow were 46p, and the pads were 12p!!!! from tesco in a bargain box type thing, dont know if they will have this all over through!
I cant believe christmas is so soon, I should probably get a move on! And stop adding to the list of the presents im buying people!
Thanks for the help on the graters, hopefully get chance to go to wilkinsons in the next few days, and also B&M, have only ever been in there to buy alcohol before but you have all motivated me to have a proper look around!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

Morning all, I just wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone on this board. It really is inspirational. This is my first year of being organised and i'm trying to get all my shopping and everything done by 1st December, this board has been a huge help. For once my friends and family will get a thoughtful pressy instead of something i've grabbed last minute in the week before christmas!! Yippee!0

ive got my mum, dad & nana all coming to me this year- first time they will have spent christmas with us since ive been with hubby (8 years) and i am sooooooo looking forward to it. I have bought mum's, dad's and my brother's presents- i have hubby's sorted out - getting him some family guy dvd's from play.com. My nana has asked me to get her a bottle of timeless from avon (as i do avon) so am puting in the order for that next week- theres also a me to you figure in there- which is great as my very best friend collects them! My dd has asked for absolutely everything in the argos catalogue- well it feels like it! But i sat down last night and went through the list and gave ideas to family and close friends on what they could get her- i started last week getting her bits and pieces- one of the things she wanted was the barbie shower and show horse- which was reduced to 19.99 in toys r us so im getting there slowly but surely! Now im debt free i want to be fat free too!0

Not only am I well organised for xmas at home, I've just organised my work teams xmas lunch:p Normally it takes a couple of formal meetings and a couple of informal chats to get them to make a decision but not this year! I've got them rounded up, date & time decided and deposits paid:rotfl:
The last 2 years a more democratic system was used and it was rubbish! So I put my Stalin moustache on and 'organised' them - (hope I've chosen well - actually, I was there last week and it was brilliant and very reasonably priced).
I never go to the office xmas party (too expensive) but I do enjoy the lunchtime get-together.
Bet they'll all be relieved when I retire!:D
ps Apologies to anyone who reads this post twice as I accidently posted it on the wrong thread originally:o
