Do they pay 3.85% fixed to Feb 2010?

No, but I'd assumed you were looking for an instant access account, not a bond. If you're happy to lock your money away then yes, there are higher rates.

I do not mean this in a bad way, but I do not see many over 50s opening an internet account.

My Gran cant turn the computer on, let alone surf the net!

Excuse me - I'm 63 and am far more computer literate than most people (of all ages) I know! There is very little I can't do.

Try not to worry too much about them - they'll be old soon enough and then they will have learned how to manage.

That`s why I think, going by current rates,Skipton`s 3.85% fixed `til Feb next year is a good as it gets at the moment.

    Hard!
If you can be bothered with the hastle of multiple applications, try multiple Lloyds Vantage accounts (4%).

Alternatively, Investec's High Five (3.13% this week) is always = average of the 5 best-paying accounts in Moneyfacts. Changes every week so as rates rise, so will this. £25K minimum & 3 months notice rqd. £50 bonus paid if referred. PM me for any other details.

    Or Leeds BS (3.05%).

Or Coventry BS (if you're over 50) (3.25%)

For rates above this you'll need to tie your money up. (unless anyone knows better....)

On a previous post someone said they ignored Coventry`s warning about having a previous esaver and went ahead anyway.
They are waiting for the bumph in the post.
Hope they post on here what happens.
