The account that I originally linked to has been withdrawn, therefore no longer available. This is the reason that you are now linking to some other page.
Oh OK blimey just shows being away from these forums for a week and I miss out. Dammit - I would have gone for it as well (I think) as I have two other fixed CBS bonds and a YBS one has just matured. Not sure what to do with it. I have another YBS one maturing end July too.

Ok well it's not all bad. You can get 3.15% with either Alliance & Leicester Online Saver Issue 5 account, or Birmingham Midshires Telephone account. Both are simple savings accounts, ie no penalty for withdrawals:

Will someone who have been promised the said application forms in the last day or so,let us know ASAP when they get them.
They must be back to the Cov. by the 15th (recorded delivery will be treated as proof by them,I was assured).

Noticed a banner running across the top of their site screen yesterday saying issue withdrawn due to high demand.
This saga has been going on so long that I`ve almost forgeten the T&C`s of it.
3.25% fixed for a year but you can add and withdraw without penalty,is that correct.

Alared - I'm sure the Issue 6 has the same Ts & Cs as previous issues, I've been adding and withdrawing without penalty on my Issue 3 and the initial rate was fixed for 12 months.

Had the email yesterday to say I would be getting application forms in the post, so looking out for postie and will let you know when they arrive.

Phoned them yesterday afternoon, got the form this morning and posted it off. Just used the 1st class envelope provided, not going to start worrying about postal strike.

Just received my application form in today's post & have just completed it to post back to them.

I also included a note to say that I hope that they will review & rescind thier ridiculous condition of not being allowed to close & transfer from a previous version to a newer version of the account.

Meanwhile, in protest, I have already withdrawn the bulk of the existing balance to open a new Newcastle BS 5 year 5% ( i.e 90 day notice !) 'Bond'.

Still wanted to have the new 50Plus eSave version 6 account though for any possible new deposits !

I’m an existing e-save customer and in my eagerness to get the better rate, sent off my application, forgetting the “only one e-save account allowed” rule. The need to control the number of accounts is a pretty weak excuse. I’m waiting for their response, but see that this account has now been withdrawn. Although Coventry has gone against their statement that all their accounts are available to new and existing customers, I can see why they only want new money: they don’t want to pay a higher rate on funds they already hold. However, they run the risk of alienating existing customers who will move to other societies (like Yorkshire or Skipton) and, more to the point, I think they will miss out on considerable funds that existing customers would have transferred in because of the good rate.

Postie bought my form today, also one for OH so it looks as though they took notice of my e-mail. I didn't really expect them to send us a form each as it was only me that emailed. Just off to post them back now.

Lost track with everyone now, Alared - did you have an existing 50plus? I've filled in the bit to transfer my money from my existing issue to the new one rather than send a cheque.
