Trust me, it's not something I wanted to do. So what is one supposed to do when a shared resource is in someones room.. and further if the person who's room it is in decided to hold it ransome... even worse the thing doesn't evven belong to him0 -

Said it before, but this really isn't acceptable. When he gets back you should ask him to sign up to an LA or something - you can't be without protection every time the LL goes on holiday, that's just nuts.0 -

Yes that's true. It never occured to ask for one, over the many years of renting I've never had the misfortune of sharing a house with someone so bad.0 -

This is going to be quickest resolution to this problem. Far easier than upsetting the landlord, writing legal letters, giving fatty an excuse to do something spiteful on his last day etc etc.
Despite internet access being included in the rent, if it was me and I relied on it so heavily (especially if lack of connection was costing me money) then I'd be considering installing a completely separate phone line altogether.0 -

He disconnected me because he found me trying to repair the internet connection on the router which is in his room.. It hadn't worked for a day, he wasn't home so we thought we'd rty to figure out what the problem was.. he came home as I was doing this and pulled out my cable and told me to not go in to his room again..0 -

I think I have a solution. As the housmate is being evicted (july 10th), he's going to be expecting the damage deposit back from the landlord.
Do you think I could bill the landlord for the internet service I'm paying him for but not getting and the landlord in-turn could get his loss back from the damage deposit?
I was also thinking I could also bill the landlord for the overtime I've lost from work by not being able to work from home (I work in IT) as a result of having no connection. Again bill the landolord for this and he can his loss back from the damage deposit?
What do you think?
What I think is that while it's sad that this guy is acting childish, it's a real shame you appear to have taken that as an invite to be the same.
I also think that your LL perhaps ought to move the connection point for this communal resource into a cupboard in a communal area - you really shouldn't be going into this guy's room to fix your internet in the first place which was your bad, but if the LL had thought things through then you wouldn't have "had" to.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

PS: Sorry, I feel I've disgraced myself with that comment. It was unworthy of me as a gentleman about town.0
