Nope not mentioned in contract, just verbal. Getting own wireless adapter won't work, hosemate has installed his own router, all internet traffic goes through his machine so getting a wireless adapter won't help.
Thanks for the reply :money:
Sorry, I mean to say a *mobile* internet adapter, not a wireless one.
I view it that as of now, this is the landlord's problem. You're paying *him* for a service that *he* isn't providing you with. He, in turn, probably has a complaint against the housemate for, effectively, sabotaging the internet connection you pay him for...
With that view, I'd guess that "breach of contract" is about as "legal" as you can get for now...0 -
Trace the phone cable and disconnect it from the junction box then run another cable to somewhere more secure and add a phone socket then install a wireless router hidden somewhere.
Be aware though that on the day he is moving out someone should be at home to keep an eye on him as you don't want cheese or fish stuck down the back of your fridge.
If you are confident enough then ask him "outside" for a chat and sort it out properly once and for all but I don't believe in violence myself...........0 -

Most wireless routers are default settings, and you could lock out his MAC address.
He's duplicated the MAC address of the router provided by Virgin on to his own Cisco router, the outside connection goes to his cisco router and then out to the rest of us for who he's given us routers which the Cisco will allow access. Bascially he's firwalled us out and controls which kit can get to the outside world.... git! :mad:0 -

To do that I'd need to go in to his room as that where the outside connection comes in to the house. I'm not sure where I'd stand legally if I were to do that..
Will keep an eye on him, he's the spitful type and may pull a silly on his way out..
If I were to ask him 'outside' he'd squish me to a pulp.. he's a biiiiig guy.. too many super size pizza's & takeaways... this guys idea of fun is day & night playing 'Eve on-line' while stuffing his face with all the junk & cola he can lay his hands on.0 -

Yep a mobile adapter is a good idea!! the LL could get his costs back from the damage deposit...
got the police coming over this eve to take a statement from me to issue him with a anit-harrasment order.. I'll mention this to them anyway incase they can offer any way out.. really, it's crazy the behaviour people can get away with0 -
Can you get into his room when he is out? If so go in and remove all his kit:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
then deny all knowledge.
Also stick some smelly fish under his bed.
If that does not work wait until he is in his room, turn off the electric, you hear him coming out, turn it back on and keep doing it but don't tell him what you are doing. It will drive him bonkers:eek:
Childish I know but so is he.

Also, to continue the theme, put clingfilm over the toilet seat. Wait for him to get to the bathroom door *then* flick the power off - he'll try and go in the dark and won't see the film...bwahahahaha!0 -
I would wait it out, plenty of unsecure networks about to check emails etc.
Even better if you have a list of ip addresses for wireless routers, and default admin passwords. Then you can clear the logs from the router, ensure your computer name is not your name, but something like 'Me'.
Just take a drive around..0 -
Is it Virgin fibre or standard Virgin?
Also if he is big then he is slow as that is how they caught all the American hackers in the old days as they where too ft to run away.
Only option is to kill the power but before doing that tie a rope around his door handle to something so he can't get out.0
